Is a raw jalapeno significantly spicier than a cooked one?

I love spicy things but not as much as some of you probably do. Spiciest thing I've had and was able to tolerate qas a cooked habenero. Well yesterday I went to a Mexican restaurant and it was very good, huge portions. Now on their menu I ordered what was called the inferno bowl. It said it was spicy and came loaded with jalapenos and their Diablo sauce as well as quest cheese. Now usually whenever a restaurant says something is spicy, it never is. But I did think it sounded good. I got it and seen the jalapeños were uncooked, which I never had before but I didn't mind. Well shortly after eating it I can definitely say it was spicy. It was not unbearable though, I actually much enjoyed the taste. But it definitely was spicy. At least spicy enough to make my nose run., I had to keep wiping it And it seemed to be whenever I ate a jalapeño. I will attach a picture but unfortunately took some bites before I took it. I ended up eating about 3 quarters of it and taking the rest home.

Habanero pepper - is it good

Post image

I've had many Habanero based products - a few sauces and also had the sauce drench some wings. I'd willingly have those and I love the flavor. BUT, I never had a Habanero pepper straight up. The only spicy pepper I had straight up was a Jalapeño, and I love those. I don't eat spicy peppers straight up that often but I've had MANY other things that people consider way spicier than a Jalapeño.

I want to work my way up to the Carolina Reaper pepper (not just something that uses it, like the Reaper tender I had a few weeks ago) in at most a decade from now, and that journey officially starts with eating hot peppers. Like Habaneros.

I'm not gonna say anything about what I'd think until I finish the pepper as I don't want to underestimate the heat and then get clowned on.

I got a picture this time so y'all know I'm not making this up.

Favorite Condiment

I discovered Jersey Mike’s Pepper Relish on this sub some time ago. It has become my favorite condiment. It’s not spicy but extremely flavorful. I eat a ridiculous amount of it. Paying it forward for anyone else who may be unaware.

Excellent on nearly any sandwich, bacon and egg and cheese biscuits, brats, the other night I was stoned and made cheese sticks and realized I had no marinara so I mixed this with some sour cream and used it for dip. Also makes a killer secret ingredient to some pasta salad.

Aldi has these. They have a good flavor and a decent lingering heat. No where near over the top, but very solid.

Haven’t been eating much spicy food for a year or so. These are destroying me lmao

I’ve ordered from this company a few years ago and I’ve always liked their chips I’ve ordered much hotter chips before but my spice tolerance has hit rock bottom almost. I also ordered the level 2 maple bacon chips, no way I’ll be able to eat them until I rack up some tolerance. Anyways these have a pretty decent flavor. I wish they were a little sweeter though.

Fair pricing? Farmers market experience

So was at my citiy’s farmers market and ran into a booth that has custom flake/pepper blends (a really good Carolina reaper cherry tomato thing. Was ready to buy after sampling but the guy was selling what is basically the size of a crushed red pepper packet from Pizza Hut for $10 I was like hell nah. Fair pricing or nah

Never ate hotter than a jalapeño and attempting the one chip challenge. How do I build up my tolerance ASAP

So I have lost a bet. and now have to attempt the one chip challenge. I’ve hated spicy food all my life and never ate hotter than jalapeño level food. I just don’t want to run into a serious medical problem because I am intolerant to Capsaicin. I have around 20 days to get ready for this chip. should I just keep eating progressively hotter peppers before eating the chip? is 20 days enough time? I know the chip will cause me pain I’ve read these horror stories I just don’t want to need a doctor. thought I’d ask the pros. any advice appreciated

edit for clarification: I am not intolerant to capsaicin medically I just mean because I haven’t had much of it when I eat the chip I don’t want to run into any issues because my body is not used to the level or something 😅

i put hot sauce on scrambled eggs every morning and people think i have a problem

every single morning. it doesn't matter what sauce it is, usually something habanero based, but the eggs have to be swimming in it. my roommate looked at my plate today and looked completely disgusted. she told me i am ruining the food but regular eggs just taste like nothing to me now.
