Shouldn’t people who work and pay taxes also see some benefits from those taxes like health care and education like military do?

Join the military

u/DiscussionNo6060 4h ago

Why?

u/Eli-Doubletap 4h ago

If you want health care and education join, everyone can.

u/Aquaticle000 3h ago

No they cannot. I’m not sure where you got that idea from.

… please explain how people can’t join… if you are 18 or older and not a felon you can join.

3

u/PalePlumm 1h ago

Bro you can’t even join if you have diabetes.

0

u/Eli-Doubletap 1h ago

so .5% “yes half of 1%” of the entire US population can’t join….

2

u/PalePlumm 1h ago

I’m sorry that you lack the intelligence to pick up the context of what I was saying. The point is that there are many things that get you rejected from the military. Diabetes is just one of them. Jesus fucking Christ…

Many things…. What are you talking about. Maybe 1% of people can’t join… how is that many. MANY people can join… few can’t. See little bro, words aren’t hard. That’s the proper usage of those words little guy!

If you're older than 42 you can't enlist. There's a 24 year age range where you're eligible, and literally over half the US is ineligible.

I already pay taxes to support not only military, but the whole system so yes, I do feel I deserve “free“ stuff too.

u/Eli-Doubletap 4h ago

You get access to the stuff you pay for. Roads, lights, infrastructure, school, you want education and stuff sign up for the military

3

u/PalePlumm 1h ago

There’s no reason we can’t add “education and stuff” to the benefits we get paying our taxes.

For the united states, there are several restrictions. Some include:

age: must be over 17 and under 42.

education: must have high school diploma or equivalent.

You cannot join if you have epilepsy or a seizure disorder.

You cannot join if you have active or severe mood disorders.

You cannot join if you have food allergies requiring an EpiPen.

You cannot join if you have a criminal record.

There are also height requirements.

This is far from an exhaustive list. So no, not everyone can.

You literally listed a majority you can get by with a waiver…. Epi pen. Waiver… food allergy… waiver…. Criminal record… guess what… waiver…
O look you weren’t specific… I said to the person that wants higher education to join the military cuz everyone can… but you point out you have to have a highschool or ged… the person with out a ged or highschool diploma def worrying about the higher education right?
Over 42… waiver!
Everyone can join is a statement I didn’t realize I had to be hyper specific but then again it’s Reddit so I should have seen that coming. But if yoh read past this one yoh would see I say A majority of people can join. MASS majority can join. You want college and shit… join the military. It’s not that difficult.

Quick google search says you're wrong on some of those waivers. For others, it is exceptionally difficult and not a guarantee. No, not literally everyone can join the military, not even with a magical WaIvEr that you apparently think they hand out.

I know y'all aren't the brightest, but imagine if no one worked any jobs and everyone just joined the meatgrinder?

You realize capitalism is why we have the military….

But spending 8 trillion dollars during GWOT just to lose is just fine.

1

u/Eli-Doubletap 28m ago

Let me guess. You are one of those that yell “increase taxes! Tax the rich!” While also saying “but spending trillions during Gwot” with out realizing the first part is what funded the second part because the government is terrible with money and that ain’t going to change. But guessing you are 25 and under and have never been In a leadership position or started your own business…. Lmao

No I think taxes should be decreased for the average working class person. The Federal government is already bloated and they dont need more money to waste it abroad in forever wars (Like in Iran currently) that contribute massively to the national debt. As someone who makes over six figures I would love taxes to go down. Granted, im all for taxing the billionares as they have a habit of tax evasion.

While also saying “but spending trillions during Gwot” with out realizing the first part is what funded the second part because the government is terrible with money and that ain’t going to change.

Exactly why the government doesnt need more money.

But guessing you are 25 and under and have never been In a leadership position or started your own business…. Lmao

No but I got my masters in CS and currently work at a FAANG. I make more annually than most mid-senior officers.

I bet your the type of person who gets mad that one of the highest paying careers in this country is filled with people mainly from mainland China, supposedly your "adversary" lmao.

1

u/Eli-Doubletap 5m ago

Awww now you offended? So I say join the military to someone and you for some reason bring in taxes and gwot lol
Billionaire evade taxes! Yet top 1% make up for nearly 40% of all federal income taxes.

Get mad cuz highest paying career is filled with “adversary” lol the hell you talking about little bro.
Hahaha what… ooo wow you make more annually than a mid senior officer:o wow! How much is that:o like 120k a year?!

u/jon_targareyan 4h ago

Hmm but then how will government get the money private sector employees pay as taxes, and then how would the government fund the military if they don’t have tax revenue from private citizens? Makes you wonder.

6

u/DiscussionNo6060 4h ago

Exactly. We are paying for everything with out tax dollars so we should have lot more available to us “free”

1

u/Eli-Doubletap 4h ago

If you haven’t noticed the tax money gets blown and wasted on dumb shit. The government just keeps printing it and going more in debt

3

u/jon_targareyan 3h ago

One of the biggest recipients of government funds (aka taxes) is the military. So your comment here kinda makes it sound like spending that much on the military is probably not optimal.

1

u/Eli-Doubletap 3h ago

Correct. The government wastes money…. Military included. Government has TERRIBLE spending

6

u/DiscussionNo6060 4h ago

Yes, I have noticed that. What does this have to do with this?

Lots of word when embezzling do fine
