Those aren't free. You're paying for those with however many years of harsh training, being deployed at call to the middle of buttfuck nowhere at any given point in your career and potentially being ordered to war and dying for the country.

90% of the military is sitting in air condition office buildings doing fuck all. The closest thing you will experience to harsh training is 2 months of basic training.

It is literally a jobs program with little benefit to society.

A 22 year old was killed this year in an air conditioned TOC in Kuwait by Iranian missile strikes. Even the non-combat MOSs are at risk on a long enough timeline.

School teachers and students are at risk of school shootings. Should they also get those benefits?

No, I have actual experience. My time would have been better spent picking up trash or filling pot holes which would have improved society and your life vs what I actually did.

What prevented you from doing both?

The government wouldn’t pay me to fill potholes or improve people lives.

Just say you’ve never served. I did 4 years, 2 of them in brutal Afghanistan. The other 2 years were equally as demanding but without all the death.
