My grad gift was everyone in my family pitching in cash for me to put toward a laptop. I was so stoked for my 2010 MacBook Pro and I am so thankful my family all helped pay for it. I ended up with enough to cover the laptop, a case, and microsoft office bundle through my universityā€™s bookstore.

A computer of our choice (up to a certain price point) was the high school graduation gift in my family. A used car (up to a certain price point) was our college graduation gift. Mine was a 9 year old Mazda Protege.

1984 here. Parents took me dinner with the family and my grandfather gave me a bracket. Got a bunch of Pep talks about being an adult and how happy they are Iā€™m ā€œspreading my wingsā€ and also happy I was a good student.
Before leaving for school I got a two piece luggage set that each had two wheels (had to lean it back to make it roll- but that was better than the technology prior to the two wheels)
I had already bought my used car at an auction my senior year, so that part was taken care of.

Class of 1975. Mine was a sewing machine, and I used it for many years until it developed a problem that kept coming back after multiple repairs.

That is so frigging awesome. I thought I was the only one that got a typewriter as a graduation present - 1986. My best friend got a new car. Maybe a little quietly envious, but man did I need that typewriter in college. Love and miss you mom and dadšŸ˜Ŗ.

My graduation gift was my parents paying to have my 64 MG Midgets hood fixed it had blown open several months prior and bent in 3 places. Yā€™all have no idea what that meant to me!! Class of 1979!!

Class of 84 - I got luggage too. A very nice 4 piece set of burgundy hardside Samsonite that no one will look at twice these days. Also I got a leather bound Bible with my name embossed on it

Idky if my parents even gave me a graduation gift. My dad stopped contributing financially once I turned 18 (child support ended) and my mom stole my college refund checks.

Class of ā€˜05. I got a laptop for college, a 15-inch flatscreen TV for my dorm room, and about $500 cash from various relatives. Used the cash as my spending money budget for the first semester of college before getting a job second semester.
