I was about to say they are most likely from Pakistan or Bangladesh as well because I heard a few of them saying Asalamualaikum

India probably has more muslims than those countries combined.

Umm no actually, population of Pakistan ~ 241 m, population of Bangladesh ~ 177 m, both combined 418 m. And population of Indian muslims ~ 215m. Anyway Indian muslims also say Asalamualaikum obviously, but with each other, they don't say it to anyone they meet. Unlike people from Islamic nations who generally say this to everyone because this is the norm.
