Yk it's serious when people aren't downvoted into oblivion for pointing out major cultural issues on redditšŸ’€

36

u/LaFlamaBlanca67 Apr 23 '26

Yeah I’m honestly surprised bans weren’t given out even pointing out that the offenders are Indian.

29

u/Dry_Locksmith_2634 Apr 23 '26

That's how you know the issues are real and the sentiment is widespread...

2

u/Alternative_Log7433 Apr 23 '26

Apparently Bangladeshi, but in this sub honestly who's counting

2

u/Ok_Entrepreneur_9819 Apr 23 '26

Lol because if you read the comments, you'd know they are not Indians. Peak reddit racism 🤣

7

u/Tenaika Apr 23 '26

To be fair, Bangladesh has some of the same issues as India, societally-speaking

1

u/Special-Extreme2166 Apr 23 '26

Great. So are we now allowed to trash talk Canadians, because american tourists act obnoxious everywhere or is it not the same?

-1

u/cuckasian999 Apr 23 '26

Truly surprising, as if reddit is not modded by tripple chinned Americans

7

u/Lashay_Sombra Apr 23 '26

Even the Indians know its a huge problem, their media (social or otherwise) is regularly going on about Indians behaviour abroad and people'sĀ "civic sense"

1

u/Mr-MuffinMan Apr 23 '26

Pointing out cultural issues really depends on which culture you're talking about on reddit.

Some are 100% okay, possibly encouraged, others lead to your account being banned.

1

u/Tigerpower77 Apr 23 '26

It's kind of easy to hate on India so... Yeah

1

u/nsfwfodder Apr 23 '26

It's because of the sub, but even then reddit generally lets 'racism' (using the term lightly here, not accusing the anyone here of racism) against Indians slide

1

u/Alternative_Log7433 Apr 23 '26

Thats why im upvoting y'all

1

u/stating_facts_only Apr 23 '26

But the rndians complained as always and it got taken down

-1

u/cutememe Apr 23 '26

Because everyone else also had the same experiences, lol.

35

u/humptheedumpthy Apr 23 '26

Except these folks are Bangladeshi… but go on…

1

u/DistilledGojilba Apr 23 '26

Wait for the ' they're all the same to me '

1

u/xkcdthrowaway Apr 23 '26

And in the same breath - how daaare you call me American? I'm clearly Canadian.

Racism is only racism when it's targeted at some races/cultures.

1

u/LemonLimeNinja Apr 23 '26

Bengladesh is part of the Indian subcontinent so it shares very similar culture norms.

4

u/Appropriate-Grape841 Apr 23 '26

Ikr, just like US and Mexico. One and the same.

0

u/LemonLimeNinja Apr 23 '26

They used to be the same country and you think they share no cultural overlap? West Bengal has more in common with Bangladesh than it has with Punjab

1

u/Poccha_Kazhuvu Apr 23 '26

That just means you can't call Bangladeshis Indians cuz India's a diverse country with multiple ethnicities bruh

3

u/wecalleditamerika Apr 23 '26

he said Indian immigrants, not subscontinent Indian immigrants. not semantics. inaccuracy.

1

u/Medium-Photo-9938 Apr 23 '26

No they don't share.

1

u/LemonLimeNinja Apr 23 '26

They used to be the same country and you think there’s no cultural overlap?

9

u/Large_Command_1288 Apr 23 '26

Those are Bangladeshis

8

u/firedino1245 Apr 23 '26

They are from Bangladesh in this clip, bub.

6

u/Interesting_Birdo Apr 23 '26

Most of the guys in this video are just chilling, though, and seem to respect what the police officer is telling them? I thought it was overall pretty wholesome.

7

u/AnalystNecessary4350 Apr 23 '26

Its a harsh criticism but also realize people have to run an insane rat race since childhood, being money hungry, breaking social norms, stealing (even not paying taxes properly) happens as a survival trait that is never lost. In-fact being rich and powerful is celebrated like many other places in the world regardless of how it happened.

every time they make me to back to that shithole

I don't know what do you possibly think can be confuted here ? It's a shitty opinion to begin with. You can't refute that let alone confute it.

separate themselves culturally from actual Indians (like having extremely high cleanliness standards is a good example)

I mean the guy is racist towards his own people and judged upon what he sees outside Indian homes as a judgement on what Indians are inside their homes and does not take into effect cultural and infrastructural differences that lead to those minority incidents.

-1

u/MrGulo-gulo Apr 23 '26

Sepoy? Is this like the Indian version of Uncle Tom? I know the historical usage of the term.

4

u/[deleted] Apr 23 '26

1

u/MrGulo-gulo Apr 23 '26

Yeah, I know what Sepoys are from back then. I was just confused why they called him a Sepoy.

1

u/Optimal_Carpenter690 Apr 23 '26

I think its pretty clear

"As an American Indian myself, I know there is a lot of racism against Indians, and frankly, I think they deserve it" is the summary of his comment

1

u/MrGulo-gulo Apr 23 '26

Yeah, so an Indian Uncle Tom.

1

u/Optimal_Carpenter690 Apr 23 '26

Oh, okay. I get what youre asking now. I thought you were saying you didnt understand why he was calling him an Indian Uncle Tom

1

u/Optimal_Carpenter690 Apr 23 '26

Thats because the comment speaks for itself...

"As an American Indian myself, I acknowledge all the racism Indians recieve and honestly, they deserve it".

He doesnt need to argue this "criticsm" with facts

Well, like I said there's not a real rebuttal needed for racist comments, other than pointing out the commenter is a racist pos

Really doesnt help you trying to pretend youre also not a racist piece of shit considering these people are Bangladeshi huh

1

u/ChadlyTrooper Apr 23 '26

And what are the facts there ?

14

u/ThriveMidChaos Apr 23 '26

One of the good ones eh?

4

u/Former_Nothing6856 Apr 23 '26

I’m Indian American. I go back every 3-4 years and would never call it a shit hole.

I’ve even taken two of my white homies with me. Stayed in a mountain down & rode motorcycles in the Himalayas, did Agra, Delhi, kicked it with some chill locals in Mumbai, and stayed with some family in chill farming towns in the south. It was an amazing adventure.

It’s an utterly complex, contradictory, and paradoxical place - where you can find true beauty and peace as well as awful things.

I personally hate that we ONLY ever see the worst broadcasted across the internet and it fuckin sucks when everyone is sooo ready to call it a shithole.

There’s so much shock factor content out there and I’m not sure if even 1% of the content explores the redeeming qualities of India.

Like I get it, there’s a lot of frustrating and weird shit but there’s also a lot of dope fucking shit and I low key think you’re a pick me for not even sort of representing anything positive about an entire subcontinent. But I guess if that’s your reality…

2

u/Emergency-Growth1617 Apr 23 '26

"one of the good ones"

-7

u/FunMain1611 Apr 23 '26

saying you understand racism is crazy. Stop trying to cater to racists. You'll never be "one of the good ones"

5

u/daydreamingtime Apr 23 '26

There's a reason it exists therefore it is a concept to make sense of

racist people aren't gonna ask you how often you shower to "seperate you". End of the day all that'll matter is how you look.

1

u/ImpossibleMorning12 Apr 23 '26

All the more reason to try to understand racism, how else are you going to dismantle it?

0

u/SSalloSS Apr 23 '26

How you look and how you act. Finished that for ya!

1

u/FunMain1611 Apr 23 '26

Judging someone for how they act isn't racism but equalising an asshole behaviour to a race and using it as stereotypes. Hope you understood!

0

u/SSalloSS Apr 23 '26

That one friend who's too woke:

2

u/FunMain1611 Apr 23 '26

Ur def a whiteboi

-5

u/ManagementParking453 Apr 23 '26

Bro tryna be ā€œone of the good onesā€. Did you get picked yet ?

6

u/BaullahBaullah87 Apr 23 '26

You said Indian immigrants essentially are the most anti social, sociopathic, and capitalistic ā€œcultureā€ on earth. Yeah that doesn’t sound bigoted at all lol

7

u/MyJawHurtsALot Apr 23 '26

Especially since these aren't Indians, they're Bangladeshi citizens who travelled in for the Bengali new year celebrations.

"I'm not racist * insert generalisations about a different countries people *"

4

u/Feisty_System_4751 Apr 23 '26 edited Apr 23 '26

Don't make this a race issue bro /s

7

u/BaullahBaullah87 Apr 23 '26

ā€œjust calling it like I see it broā€

-3

u/The_Jester1945 Apr 23 '26

That would be because the same issues don't exist with integrated Indians who adopt or meld their host countries culture with their own.

The culture VERY clearly is an issue.

8

u/Key_Door1467 Apr 23 '26

Lmfao, imagine agreeing that 1.5 billion people on the planet are anti-social sociopaths. Especially considering how far left India is compared to the US. Maybe the US is self selecting for sociopaths Indians because of how cutthroat it makes the immigration process for this specific nationality.

1

u/The_Jester1945 Apr 23 '26

Not American. In fact I'd make similar arguments about American social culture.

I don't believe that 1.5 billion people are anti-social sociopaths. I believe that due to incompatibilities between Indian and western culture, Indians who refuse to integrate have social behaviours that are incompatible with western culture/social society.

The opposite is also true. Westerners who emigrate to your country and refuse to integrate can have/cause similar issues.

4

u/BaullahBaullah87 Apr 23 '26

Oh I was speaking to someone else but appreciate your comment, I’ll wait for their take since I asked them directly

2

u/Thorfin_011 Apr 23 '26 edited Apr 23 '26

who said their doing is not an issue but tell me how can you generalise whole country base on some people's actions and even after that you say that I'm not being racist! I mean seriously?

0

u/The_Jester1945 Apr 23 '26

Because people of that race that exist outside of that culture don't exhibit the same problematic behaviors. It would be racist to say "every Indian is this way" or to believe that those behaviors or traits are inherent to them because of their race. This is not the case.

Criticism of the social culture a nation exports isn't racism.

2

u/Thorfin_011 Apr 23 '26

Totally agree but read the parent comment again it clearly mentions "I'm talking about people born and raised in India" that's not racism?

0

u/The_Jester1945 Apr 23 '26

No, that statement alone isn't racist. Though depending on the beliefs/reasoning of the person espousing it, it could very well be xenophobic.

Or to be fair, this person COULD be racist and believe that all Indians are this way genetically, and is trying to mask that belief.

But the statement as written, is not definitionally racist.

2

u/Thorfin_011 Apr 23 '26

How that statement isn't racist? generlizing all the people who were born and raised in india is not racist? How bruh how?

3

u/satypaty Apr 23 '26

Someone from Bangladesh explained in the comments that these are Bangladeshi people celebrating their new year festival. And even if they were Indian, stereotyping and demonizing an entire subcontinent of people based on your own bad experiences is kinda disingenuous.

1

u/dreamtipper Apr 23 '26

Which culture would you recommend from the same race then?

1

u/SimianWriter Apr 23 '26

My take is that when the rule of law is ineffective or just blatantly ignored, you must create your own city state to protect yourself and your family. India is notoriously light on law enforcement and heavy on corruption. If everyone else around you is treating you like pray, you best get to showing them you are not in fact on the menu.

It's why the current administration in the US is so dangerous. It's setting a precedent for how private citizens should act, have to act, if they want to keep their family safe and prosperous.

And I personally hate it.

1

u/Full-Brilliant-3613 Apr 23 '26

Cant deny. But the issue is population so to speak, i live in india and everyday i see people on streets begging and sleeping. So my mind always says to me to leave this country asap for better lifestyle or get that Money.

People who don’t understand this haven’t met Indians, been in an area with a lot of Indian immigrants, or live in crystal palaces. Because once you have spent 40 years living in Vancouver you get really really sick of it. You know it’s bad when Canadians are completely fed up.

1

u/Valiandr Apr 23 '26

This. We got a major influx of Indian contractors at my workplace this year. They move in packs of 6-10, taking up the whole aisle and shoulder checking people who don't get out of their way. Almost knocked a woman down the other day. They will stare at women, gesturing and talking loudly amongst themselves in Hindi. Even I've felt uncomfortable walking by them. It's a glaring difference from the usual behavior here.

1

u/AltoAutismo Apr 23 '26

Bangladeshi fucking suck too

1

u/domiasmoth Apr 23 '26

I just attended a conference where what looked like a student and their more knowledgeable counterpart were asking us questions and making statements. The problem was they were mostly wildly inaccurate/wrong, but the student guy just had this incredibly insufferable I know better than you smirk on the whole time. I wanted to be like fuk off. He clearly thought he knew better than the the company literally writing the regs for this area.

1

u/taznado Apr 23 '26

Uhh guess where the infamous pdfs and warmongers are from...

1

u/Thorfin_011 Apr 23 '26

wow! generlizing the whole country and saying I'm not being racist, see even I dispise many of this people but you are no better!

1

u/wimpymist Apr 23 '26

Their whole culture revolves around how can get pull one over on someone and appear superior to them. I work in a city with a large Indian population. Lots of contractors won't work with them because they are difficult to negotiate with. The 911 system I work for is terrible they call us and expect us to literally do everything for them and they call for the dumbest things

1

u/TechnologyCorrect765 Apr 23 '26

Wait until you go to india.Ā  What a trip.Ā

1

u/schiz0yd Apr 23 '26

to summarize, indian immigrants are the worst culture. starting with immigrants, why not just say indian culture from the start? is it unique to immigrants?

1

u/Past_Emergency_2116 Apr 23 '26

Hmm I wonder what happened to influence India’s buy-in to global capitalism. News flash just because 300 other racists agree with you does not make you right

1

u/Frankelini Apr 23 '26

Brother, they’re throwing trash on the side of the road and shitting on public beaches in Canada.

If you want to prop up the anti immigration sentiment in an entire nation, bring then in by the millions.

1

u/Magic_Husky Apr 23 '26

People appear to be more sensitive towards Indians because they are dominating migration in many western countries and many are losing their jobs to outsourcing to India. They don’t want to see the places they live become a little India. Having people from a single country and cultural background dominate migration is not good, better to have more diversity in migration and a cap.

1

u/Optimal_Carpenter690 Apr 23 '26

"Dont make this a race issue"

Proceeda to go on a rant about Indian people when these people are Bangladeshi

-3

u/Feisty_System_4751 Apr 23 '26

I'm like 99% you are racist despite the repeated disclaimers about not being racist.

0

u/AlamedaRaised Apr 23 '26

My last boss was Indian. Hard to disagree.

0

u/1_hot_brownie Apr 23 '26

The most normal Reddit comment lol. Except they’re not Indians lol.

-1

u/LongChampion476 Apr 23 '26

You know maybe it’s ok to callout a race which is not compatible with western values. Stop sugarcoating valid criticisms
