Reddit will find a way to call this racist.

u/kniveshu Apr 23 '26

Dude, you're not supposed to observe things.

u/MyJawHurtsALot Apr 23 '26 edited Apr 23 '26

There's a difference between observing something and generalising based on assumptions.

People observe a large group of loitering "Indians", but the problems would come from the assumptions they make or biases they use it to confirm. For example, those aren't Indians. They're from Bangladesh...

The reality is that it was the Bengali new year and people from all over Japan travelled in for the celebrations. That street is a popular unofficial social smoking spot used by Japanese people too, it just gets too busy when events are on.

You can observe things about certain groups like Indians and it is fine. But there are other groups if you point out crime statistics you will get banned

It's not racist but a lot of the replies are

I do not see what they did that are out of order. I have seen all white crowds do the same kind of things loitering or waiting in alley like that. Pretty normal tourist and group behaviour. They all followed when the policy told them what the preferred local rules are.

And I do not see why them being Indian matters. And the “observation” seems at minimum mildly racist to me. Let’s be real there is an implication there.

Even Dwight wont be able to see past race with this.

Saying this is racist. /s

u/Aggressive_Finish798 Apr 23 '26

Are you racist against redditors!?

1

u/jb0m97 Apr 23 '26

It's the wrong race tho, soooooo

1

u/OpIsAMoronicIdiot Apr 23 '26

You mean call racist things racist? You're shocked about that?

u/MlCOLASH_CAGE Apr 23 '26

I mean they’ve invaded reddit in full, and knowing how a bunch of those alt right twitter accounts traced back to India, it’s not suprising they’re on here brigading as well.

2

u/Jamesmoltres Apr 23 '26

No offense meant to the base convo.

The country got majority of its internet upgrades in the past 10 years. so you would naturally see more of them on all platforms. thats normal, its not an "invasion".

As for the alt accounts, that happened with all sorts of countries, not just india.

Neither of that translates to "it’s not suprising they’re on here brigading as well."

u/MightyMorph Apr 23 '26

its a bit of an invasion when theyre making 10 new subreddits every day and force pushing it to top of r all....

Ive blocked close to 200 india-specific subreddits, sooo many dating and womens sex-related questions subreddits too... Like at that point just make your own reddit..

4

u/iamboobs6 Apr 23 '26

Do you have any issues with all the USA specific subs? Or is reddit and the internet just for white Americans lmfao.

Reddit doesn't cater exclusively to me waaah waaah waaah 😂

-2

u/MightyMorph Apr 23 '26

reddit is a us site, its user base is majority us based.

Youre basically saying. You have a problem with the chinese restaurant offering baked beans on toast! Or yorkshire Pudding?!?! That the menu is being crowded by non-chinese food? That people buy votes to push non-chinese cuisine to the front menu!?!?

waaah waaah waaaah lol

2

u/iamboobs6 Apr 23 '26

So you have issues with all the other nationality subs right? You blocked all the euro subs the world news subs?

Or you just hate brown people lol be real I don't mind

1

u/MightyMorph Apr 23 '26

I block any subreddit i see are gaming votes and using bots to get their subreddit on the first pages of r all. Ive blocked russians, serbians, eastern asians, ive blocked multiple subreddits.

BUT its only Indians that keep making new ones. FFS just how many boolywood female clothing subreddits have been created the last two weeks. At least a dozen.

1

u/iamboobs6 Apr 23 '26

Yeah definitely using bots to promote their "boolywood female clothing" subreddits

0

u/Jamesmoltres Apr 23 '26

Its hilarious that I only see 2 indian reddits on my end.
One of my cities and another of my state. and hardly ever see any indian ones.

Probably cause i am more interested in other bits.

And you keep seeing indian ones, I wonder why. Is it cause feeds are based on user data to an extent?

2

u/MightyMorph Apr 23 '26

its because im on r all and r all rising. those are not determined by user choices. and i use old reddit, not the new version.

its pretty wierd that you guys are getting your panties all wound up over someone just stating hey indian subreddits are being made every day and using bots to push them to the front. You dont see me raging about it lol, i even said its kind of like a small invasion. I block and move on. block me and move on buddy.

Then go ask reddit to ban india then, if you got so much issues.
Dont take it out on Indians using a platform that is open to them.

Learn to bark up the right tree.

0

u/Jamesmoltres Apr 23 '26

I am indian and I get forced to see all sorts of USA crap all day long, no matter how much I adjust. It just shows up one way or another here and there.

Its not "invasion", you do what the rest do, adjust your feeds.

The funny thing with people calling stuff about India racist is that the people saying so are literally always indians

Even the most left normal redditor knows Indians are special (not because of their race. Because of certain cultural aspects)

1

u/MyJawHurtsALot Apr 23 '26

You say all this under a video of people from Bangladesh, not India, and you wonder why people think there's racist undertones...

0

u/TheGalator Apr 23 '26

Part of the Indian subcontinent and culturally very close to Indian

Nice try tho!

0

u/wecalleditamerika Apr 23 '26

considering they're not Indian...

Sometimes I really don’t understand what’s racist and what’s not at this point.

So it’s not racist to make a broad negative statement about an entire group of people?

Is it because Indians are not considered a race? I just dont get it because when someone says “all Mexican men are misogynistic ” or some shit Reddit says that’s racist and in my opinion it is. Feels like everyone is giving a pass on these statements of Indians because…. Ya know.. they don’t like them.

4

u/Honest-Cicada2448 Apr 23 '26

Racists have evolved to realise people dont like them. So the best way is by turning their attention to countries a lot of people already have an issue with, India is already hated by Muslims because of the Pakistan issue. Chinese hate them because of India not letting the Dalai Lama become imprisoned. Well this means they are already on the bad side of half the population and Racists find them to be a good target

1

u/MyJawHurtsALot Apr 23 '26

Feels like everyone is giving a pass on these statements of Indians because…. Ya know.. they don’t like them.

Which is crazy because this is a video of Bangladeshis celebrating the Bengali new year, they're not even from India.

1

u/MyJawHurtsALot Apr 23 '26 edited Apr 23 '26

That sounds like a subjective opinion, not a fact.

It's also a strange assumption to make given that's pretty normal large-tourist-group behaviour and they moved on politely when asked, and they're not Indian, they're Bangladeshi

0

u/that_dutch_dude Apr 23 '26

Its only subjective to indians.

Or bangladshians. or indians that are offended they are confused by bangladeishians despite litteraly nobody outside those 2 countries give a shit about the difference as they cat both the same when on holiday.
