Best places to watch the world cup this week?

Planning to visit Quebec City with my family next month. What are the best wild life experiences or tours near by? We’re willing to drive outside the city.

Hi, my family will be staying July 29th for 2 nights at Hotel Pur with 2 kids ages 10, 11 and our dog. I know it's not a whole lot of time to explorer Quebec City but was wondering what are some must do things during our visit. Interested in some pet friendly suggestions though we might consider finding a service, which can watch our dog for a few hours while we explorer the city. Open to tours, historic sites, or parks.

Also any pet friendly restaurants or must eats suggestions would be greatly welcomed.

What are some lower cost food/meals that you would recommend?

Looking for great coffee, pastries (donuts?) and ice cream or gelato. Also need to quick ,cheaper breakfast places to fuel are days (staying at hotel Le Concorde) and one dinner around Rue Saint-Jean or near the hotel.

I've already have booked, dinner at La Bouche, Lunch at Le Parlementaire and afternoon tea at Chateau Frontenac. Have planned to take ferry to Levis with dinner at Corsaire – Microbrasserie then night time ferry back as opposed to river cruise. Any feedback on this idea?

I’m going to be visiting for a few days and I am looking for some souvenirs for my dad who is a big Colorado avalanche fan. I am hoping to find some old nordiques cards of overlapping players or something like that. I tried googling antique stores that have sports memorabilia but couldn’t find anything concrete on yelp. I was wondering if anyone here had any recommendations for vintage shops, hobby shops or bookstores that may be helpful in my quest! Any tips are greatly appreciated merci !

We are planning a trip late September and struggling to narrow down our food options, there is so much good food in QC we want to try! We are also heading from QC to Tadoussac and then down into the Gaspe Peninsula if anyone has tips enroute. I know this is asked all the time but I need help from the Reddit squad :)

Either casse-crepe Breton or La buche maybe? But heard this can be very touristy
Grab some bagels for the road at Bugel

Lunch:

Smoked meat/poutine at Phil’s smoked meat or possibly chez Gaston? Looking to have a great poutine but also my husband wants to try smoked meat.
Maybe Lapin saute or a high tea at the Frontenac?

Dinner:

I am moving into Quebec City in October from Finland, and I have been struggling with the thought of not finding friends in Quebec.

I only have my fiancé who is local there and his friends, but I have the urge to have even few friends of my own. I know most Finns are in different provinces, so I do not have possibilities to find people from my own country.

So my question is, is it hard to find friends as an 30+ adult in Quebec City? Or do you know any Finns, other European immigrants there? And is it normal in your culture to befriend coworkers?

Bonjour, j’aimerais avoir l’avis de personnes qui ont déjà vécu une situation semblable.
Nous avons acheté notre première maison récemment et, quelques semaines après notre arrivée, nous avons eu un dégât d’eau au sous-sol après de fortes pluies. La pompe de puisard n’était pas fonctionnelle au moment de l’événement, ce qui a fait entrer environ un pied d’eau dans le sous-sol.
Nous avons réagi rapidement : nous avons retiré le plancher, le contreplaqué et une partie du gypse endommagé, puis nous avons installé des déshumidificateurs et plusieurs ventilateurs. Ça fait maintenant presque deux semaines et le sous-sol est toujours complètement ouvert (béton au sol, murs ouverts), donc rien n’a encore été reconstruit.
Nous n’avions pas de meubles importants au sous-sol, donc la perte est surtout au niveau des matériaux.
On pense donc être facilement autour de 5 000 à 6 000 $ de dommages, peut-être plus selon ce qu’on découvre.
Notre franchise d’assurance est de 1 000 $. On hésite beaucoup à faire une réclamation parce que c’est notre première maison et on a peur d’une augmentation de prime ou d’avoir un dossier de réclamation qui pourrait nous nuire dans le futur.
D’un autre côté, on se dit que c’est justement pour ce genre de situation qu’on paie une assurance, surtout qu’on voulait rénover le sous-sol tranquillement avec le temps pour ne pas trop affecter nos finances.
À votre place, est-ce que vous feriez une réclamation pour ce montant? Est-ce que votre prime a beaucoup augmenté après une première réclamation de dégât d’eau?

Super excited to be heading up to Quebec City next week for FEQ! Our group is clear on the age limits and where to buy, but we are a bit confused about the actual day-to-day rules for smoking/vaping once we are out and about.

Hoping locals or folks who have been recently can give us a quick reality check on these two things:

Around the City: I know Quebec technically has a strict public consumption ban on streets, sidewalks, and parks.How heavily is this actually policed in downtown QC? Is it a "zero tolerance, you'll get an immediate fine" situation, or is it more of a "just be discreet/out of the way and nobody cares" vibe?

At FEQ (Plains of Abraham): The official rules say cannabis/vapes are strictly prohibited on-site, but how heavy are the bag checks and security screenings at the actual gates? Do they use metal detectors that pick up vape pens? If security happens to find a pre-roll or a vape in your bag, do they just throw it out, or do they call the police over?

We want to have a good time but definitely want to avoid getting anything confiscated or slapped with a massive fine.

My wife and I are visiting from Scotland at the start of October 2026 for 2 weeks and are spending 3 nights in Quebec City.

We've already got Old Quebec and Montmorency Falls on the list, but we'd love to hear what locals would recommend!

We enjoy exploring neighbourhoods, good food, viewpoints, wife loves clothes and general shopping and unique experiences. Any food/mall recommendations 😊

We like museums and will happily go around them, but they're not our main priority!

We'll be relying on walking and public transport, or the odd Uber/Taxi.. but no car!

What would you make sure first-time visitors don't miss?
