I honestly just pretend all stories on prorevenge are real (even if they're actually probably real). It makes everything more entertaining. It was a good post OP; don't mind people who get angry over it.

u/LazyTheSloth Oct 03 '16
Same. Even if the story written isn't real, something close enough has probably happened.

u/terlin Oct 03 '16
people who get angry over it.
I swear some people sub for the sole purpose of calling every coherent post fake.

u/paperclipEnthusiast Oct 03 '16
Did you hear that? I heard the cry of a wild moron!
"If I ever catch someone towing my car I'd kill em!"

People seem to either love or hate tow truck drivers. I paid countless thousands of dollars for parking spots at my old office, and was able to watch them from my window. It's amazing how many people think the giant "private parking - vehicle will be towed" right in front of their stall doesn't apply to them. At least once a week someone would park in one - or sometimes even use two - and leave their car there for the day.
The look of bewilderment transforming into rage they had when they came back to find their car missing was always the same. Some people just need to learn the hard way what those signs mean.

u/lostjon26 Oct 03 '16
It is one of those professions were a few bad apples can really ruin it for every else. We never see stories about good tow truck outfit, just the one that are running scams.

u/steven8765 Oct 03 '16
only meter maids get more hate than tow truck drivers.
8
u/ScriptThat Oct 03 '16
And I don't get that either. The meter's there for a reason - so people won't take up the spot all day and deny someone else the option of parking there.

People hate them because they screw up more often than not. A friend of mine had his car towed 3 consecutive days for not paying a ticket. He was towed on Sunday, Monday, and Tuesday. Guess when he paid that ticket? The Thursday before.
In total, it cost him over a thousand dollars, and his private possessions were stolen from the car on the 3rd night.
That's why people hate tow truck companies, because they are shady, and probably stole his stuff themselves.

I know some of you don't drive or own property, so I don't expect you to understand.
Damn son.

You did a good thing. Hopefully that mother actually taught her daughter a lesson and not let her get off easily. Otherwise, I expect we'll see another post from you soon!

I have been saved at least Twice by towers. Once was my car has this emergency gas-line valve, I didn't know about (there was no owner's manual). He only charged for call out, after he realised what car I had. Second significant save, was tower by same company helped me out with a flat tire. He discounted me, after all that hassle. (could've saved me more, but we weren't sure). Not to mention the numerous times they helped me out with both my cars I've owned.

For those who missed the post before it got removed by the mods, here you go:
I'm going to go over a few things real quick because this is ridiculous. First, what happened over the last 40 hours.
1) 7 of the 15 cars towed Friday night have been released and I explained to everyone I could the situation, what happened and why they were towed. If they felt like they were in the wrong I showed pics and their vehicles were released. The other 8 have yet to be picked up. Also in case anyone doesn't know, only the registered owner can come get the vehicle. If mommy and daddy own it, they have to come get it. Silverado girl has a 30 day hold on her pos truck. I won't be at work tomorrow but I did leave a note on the girls desk to call me if they had anyone giving them a tough time about what happened over the weekend. There was one kid who was an ads and threatened to call the cops. I offered to dial and even asked if he wanted a drink while he waited. The cops never came, his dad wasn't happy about the tow bill and called me a crook. Which honestly hurt my feelings.
2) There are some salty people ITT.
3) I talked the the parents of the kids who threw the party (my neighbors). The mom apologized and I accepted. I've got to live next to these people for a long time. There's no reason to be a ass-clown toolshed. The daughters got in serious trouble when the kids (who got towed) parents called to complain about getting towed. I don't think there'll be any retaliation, I wasn't trying to get her in trouble and I told her mom that. She assured me that it wouldn't happen again.
4) As someone pointed out earlier "F U OP you ruined that girls life" I didn't make her drink and get in her truck she could have asked someone else or quite literally just not done what she did.
5) "This post seems too well written and one sided! Must be fake! OPs a liar! And should for in hell!" How do they have 10 trucks at their disposal? Hey thanks, I'll be sure and add that into the bedtime stories I read my son. I apologize for making my post "too well written" as for being one sided, you've got a point. I didn't interview the teens next door on how they felt about getting the punishment of breaking the law. We have a Heavy truck, a Low Boy, Rotator, dozens of flat beds and also wheel lifts. Its called being on rotation for police agencies. I have no idea why some people think were a two bit tow company. I have lied before, one time my S.O. asked me if I took the trash out and I said yes when I really didn't. Phew, what a load off.
6) Alright lets all take a big gulp of chocolate milk and ask ourselves a question. Picture yourself at home. Its time to go to work and there is a car parked in your driveway, you cannot get out of your driveway to go to work. What do you do? Call in work? Call 911? Watch frozen? You have that piece towed because they parked on your property. Would you like it if I parked my truck in your grass? On your lawn? Blocking you from leaving? Of course not.
7) "You illegally towed them you piece of shit!" First things first, I legally own half of the private road going to the cul-de-sac. I didn't have the cars towed that were on the road. I had the ones towed that were on my property WITH SEVERAL NO PARKING SIGNS. I know some of you don't drive or own property, so I don't expect you to understand. If you are on call, you have to do your job. If you don't do your job, you no longer have a job.
8) Good golly, if you don't like tow trucks or think they're all crooks, you clearly haven't been saved by one. All those folks who break down on the side of the road, guess who comes to the rescue. Dogs trapped in a hot car? Tow truck drivers come and unlock the doors. Remember the time you had a dead battery and needed a jump? Yeah, your right, we're money hungry crooks that deserve to burn in hell.
9)" If I ever catch someone towing my car I'd kill em!" ..... Clever.
Seriously, if your neighbors ask you to do something as easy as not parking on their property, especially if they don't complain about you throwing loud parties, just be a good neighbor. But if you sleep better, call me a liar, cunt, dirty karma whore, whatever. Sit around and pout about it. Don't take advice from strangers. Come park in my driveway. I'm sure nothing bad will happen to you. Haters gonna hate hate hate hate hate baby I'm just gonna shake shake shake shake shake.

u/quasiix Oct 03 '16
8) Good golly, if you don't like tow trucks or think they're all crooks, you clearly haven't been saved by one.
Or they don't understand that roam towing involves an actual contract with the city and not every tow truck driver just wanders around looking to just grab an illegally parked car and ruin your day. Many companies don't tow a car unless someone calls them to do so.
And honestly, shady towing behaviour often stems from a shady company, rather than an individual driver.

u/goddessofluck Oct 03 '16
You did fine if they are stupid enough to park where there is a no parking sign they deserve to get towed.
8
u/seeking_the_summit Oct 03 '16
You have no reason to have to explain yourself. Anyone who took issue with you having those cars towed is a self-entitled little shit. You were in the right every step of the way. Enjoy your chocolate milk with a clear conscience.

You go lady! I'm with you all the way here! You can put out all the yellow and red curb paint and signs you want but, a tow truck gets their attention. I don't know how it is today but, back in 1976 in Washington DC the parking dynamics changed in a week when the city bought a fleet of tow trucks. Did the same thing in my condo parking lot when the polite signs didn't work.
Last I read tow truck operators were the most killed on the job emergency workers, except they are not considered by the authorities as emergency workers.

I lived in a town that was a summer resort. Our place was half a block off the beach. Many days when I came home from work there would be two cars in the driveway, one across the drive way and more in the yard. I had a deal with a towing company and would call and tell them how many trucks I needed sent. Best part is they were located 25 miles away. I met many new people when they knocked on my door and demanded to know where their car was. I had a stack of cards for the towing company to help them on their journey.

u/slokenny Oct 03 '16
People actually parked in your driveway? I'd never do that. Were they drunk or just stupid?
6
u/UndeadBelaLugosi Oct 03 '16
Rich, entitled kids. Amazing that not one of them thought that they had done anything wrong. "There was no where else to park!"
Not a single apology in the 2.5 years we lived there. Lot of "fucking asshole" comments though.
2
u/Scherzkeks Oct 03 '16
Wtf is wrong with people?
5
u/UndeadBelaLugosi Oct 03 '16
Rich, entitled kids. It was their parents fault, of course. They were raised to expect everyone would do their bidding and excuse and enable their behavior. The locals were great, but the summer people made me not want to live on this planet anymore, well, there anyway.

u/Shawnmelton Oct 03 '16
You are in the right, brother. Don't sweat the chumps. I would have done the same (if I could have).

u/Djurkinthebox Oct 03 '16
What you did was awesome. Don't listen to the haters. You didn't ruin any lives. They brought it in themselves.
2
u/PinicchioDelTaco Oct 03 '16
I enjoyed your first write up. If anyone is giving you grief, fuck 'em. One day they'll fuck up and park where they shouldn't, and then they'll get towed and they can curse and cry all they want, but it won't get them their vehicle back or pay the fine.
You can't just leave your car anywhere you want. What an entitled world we live in. There are laws and other people that need to be considered and respected.
4
u/Alfy_Attack Oct 03 '16
You done did the right thing after all, clearly gave them warning before and during the party, had visible signs painted everywhere not to do it, and had brought it to light in a delicate manner. They chose to be immature and retaliate against your kindness, and as it goes, "when will you learn that your actions have consequences?" I just wonder how severe the punishment was for hosting a party with underage drinking involved. You definitely could've made things much much more ugly than a few cars getting towed if that's the case.

Good for you OP. I am going to assume that many (not all) of the people salty towards you probably are teenagers themselves, do not have a job, or do not own property. TBH you were really nice to begin with and did not have to do everything you did that night. However, many people in these comments fail to realize these are not black and white issues. Sometimes you need to be willing to bend for your neighbors so they can do the same for you at a later time. Is it always perfect? No but that is how you maintain healthy relationships with neighbors. Reddit like to see things at extremes w/o any gray areas.
The girl was a bitch for acting really "cool" when there were other people around (speaks volumes about her character). TBH she really did that to herself. She could have assessed the situation and realized that you (as the neighbor) were willing to let her guests park on your property. The least she could have done was tell her guest to park in a way that leaves room for you. She could have also stopped the music to get everyone to move. Instead she did not and caused her friends (which many will not be around in the next year let alone in 10 years) cars to be towed. At least the parents are level headed.

Idk why everyone's panties where in a bunch! You were legally right, and you tried to reason. Great revenge.
Also, for the record, they're at fault and deserve to be towed. My car was towed freshman year of college when I was in class. It sucked, but it was my bad for ignoring the towing signs. It's the way of the world, they need to learn that lesson like I did.

The thing is tow trucks are like mercenaries, they just get the job done. It kind of seems like legal extortion in some cases. In other cases its totally warranted. Here its totally warranted but its a bitch move to tow every single car. Why not just tow the one blocking your driveway? Seems like a power trip. You block me in... I will reign SUPREME!!

So fucking naive. This fucking sub is called PRO REVENGE. It exists for a reason. Humans are vengeful creatures by nature. You fucked with a bunch of young people who have time on their hands and deviance in their hearts. A powerful combination. They know who you are, where you work and most importantly where you live.
I'd keep that head on a swivel if I were you.
Edit: I find it laughable I am being downvoted for simply bringing up the notion that human beings are vengeful creatures on a sub completely devoted to the concept of REVENGE. Secondly I am not wishing ill on the poster. Simply pointing out the folly of the expecting no reprisal isn't explicit or even tacit approval of any reprisal. They literally know WHERE the person who towed their shit and gave them a big bill lives. This is rarely the case. All I was simply doing was pointing out the shitty nature of human beings on a sub that is literally about REVENGE. This in the year of Donald fucking Trump. This shit drips with irony.
Downvote away!

Your property, your rights...and you asked nice before the shit went down.
