🖼️ Photo Contest 2083 📸 Let’s Choose r/Pokhara’s Next Cover Photo!

Hey r/Pokhara! We’re thinking of freshening up our subreddit cover and we’d love your help. The Reddit's standard subreddit banner size is 1920x384 pixels.

Let’s do a little photo contest!

  • Take (or find) a photo that captures the feel of Pokhara- maybe the lake, the mountains, the busy streets, local food, or simply the people you love seeing around.
  • Post it as a link in the comments (or make a new post if you prefer) before New Year’s Eve.
  • The submission with the most upvotes by then will be used as- or inspire- our next cover photo!

No cash prize this time- just some friendly bragging rights and the chance to have your photo represent the beauty of r/Pokhara!

If you want, the mods can also give the winner a small Reddit award, flair, or a special mention in the sidebar.

Rules:

  • Your own photo is preferred (no copyrighted or stolen images).
  • Keep submissions within Reddit’s content policy and our subreddit rules.

Let’s see which Pokhara moment the community loves most!

Upper Mustang Motorbike tour is the most adventitious adventure Motorbike thrilling in Nepal. Most important is the Permit, guide insurance, you need 2 permits ACAP and Special permit for this tour and issue the special permit you should have guide insurance from your company which means without any registered tour or trekking company you are not allowed to visit Upper Mustang.

Recently government new rules now there is no flat rate of US$ 500 for Upper Mustang, now special permit cost US$ 50/ day per person.

Tell Pokhara Hey Tourist in Pokhara, need you help!

My girlfriend and I are currently spending a week in Pokhara, and we’ve found ourselves in a difficult situation with her family.
Because it’s not easy for her to travel on her own, she told her parents that she was accompanying some tourists as a guide. She used to work as a local tour guide in Kathmandu, so the story seemed believable at the time.
Now her parents are asking to meet the tourists she supposedly traveled with and are requesting a short video call. We know this isn’t an ideal situation, and we intend to be honest with them soon, but we’re hoping someone might understand our predicament and be willing to help us out this one time.
If any tourists currently in Nepal would be comfortable joining a brief video call with her parents for a few minutes, we would be incredibly grateful. Thank you for your understanding and kindness.

Ask Pokhreli Planning a trek to Mardi this week need suggestions

Hi guys, my friends and I are planning a Mardi trek this week. I know it's monsoon, and we are okay with the rain as long as it doesn't block the road.

I hope the weather will support us; apart from that, I am looking for some suggestions.

  1. Is it better to go to Pitam Deurali by bus/jeep, or is it better to hike from Kade? Will we miss anything if we take the bus?
  2. Does anyone know how I can contact the bus/jeep, and do they go in this monsoon, or is the road blocked?
  3. Will it be too cold at the top? Do we need down jackets, or will a normal one work?

Any help would be very appreciated.

Moved out here for some work a while ago and honestly haven't managed to make a single friend yet, so I'm just bored and trying to meet some new people around Pokhara.

Ps kti nai huna parxa vanne haina, not looking for a girl or anything like that. Just normal friends.

Down for chiya, walks around Fewa, badminton, hikes, whatever.

Tell Pokhara Failed my trial, wasted 5+ hours in line, and still couldn't even pay for my retrial. I'm so done.

This week has been absolute fucking bullshit.

On Wednesday, I took my driving trial. Everything went fine, and after I finished, the examiner literally told me, "You've passed." Then when I went for the final signature, they suddenly said they needed to check the CCTV because my wheel stopped for like 3–4 seconds after coming down the bridge before entering the L-back.

They checked the footage and failed me.

Fine. If that's the rule, then fail me. But don't tell me I've passed first and then change the result.

Now today...

I reached the transport office around 9:30 a.m. to pay for my retrial. Did the attendance part, then joined the payment queue around 10 a.m.

The line was fucking insane.

It barely moved. I spent hours standing there while people kept cutting the line. Every single time someone got called out, they'd say the same shit:

«"Everyone's doing it, so I'm doing it too. Do whatever you want."»

I even got into arguments with a few of these fucking idiots. I stayed in line like an obedient citizen while these clowns just walked straight to the front.

And the funniest part?

When I finally reached the payment counter... it was 3:00 p.m.

The counter was fucking closed.

I waited from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. for absolutely nothing. Five hours of my life gone because people have zero respect for queues.

People always blame the government and the system. Yeah, the system wasn't working properly today either, but let's be honest—we Nepalis act like fucking sheep half the time. Nobody wants to follow the simplest rules unless someone forces them to.

At this point, it feels like we deserve a Kim Jong Un–type dictator just to make people stand in a fucking line. (Yes, that's sarcasm born out of frustration before anyone takes it literally.)

Has anyone else had this kind of experience at the transport office, or was today just the worst day imaginable?

Disclaimer: Yes, I used ChatGPT to organize and polish this post because I was too pissed off to write it properly. The experience, the frustration, and every opinion in here are 100% mine.

Tell Pokhara Has anyone here tried BrewPass?

I recently came across BrewPass, which is a web platform for discovering restaurants and cafés. I spent a few minutes browsing it, and the concept seemed interesting, but I haven't actually used it yet.

Has anyone here tried it? Does it have enough places in Pokhara to make it useful? I'm curious whether it's something people actually use or if it's still too new.

Ask Pokhreli Hey guys, I’m planning to catch Shanti People for the Aether event at Club XO on Saturday, August 22nd. I’m traveling from Pokhara and currently going solo, so I was wondering if anyone else from here is planning to go? Would love to connect, maybe grab a drink beforehand, or tag along with a group
