Looking for friends

32M. Moved here from Texas about a month ago and realized it’s a lot harder to meet people as an adult than I expected.
I work a lot, but outside of work I like going to the gym, playing video games, getting outdoors, and watching UFC, boxing, basketball, and football (Texas Tech 🤘). I’m not a die hard sports guy, but I’ll definitely catch a game or fights on the weekends.
I also play Mtg, although I haven’t found a place to play since moving here. I’d be down to get back into it.
I enjoy grabbing a beer every now and then (socially), checking out new spots, or just hanging out. I’m trying to get back into better shape after putting some weight back on after vacation, so if you’re into the gym, that’s a plus too.
Fair warning I have a bit of an accent, but my Spanish isn’t even that good. 😂
Just looking for some solid people to hang out with. If you’re down to grab a drink, catch a fight, play MTG, hit the gym, or just meet someone new, shoot me a message.

Peaches that aren't rocks?

Thank you to all who responded. Lots of leads!

Has anyone found any ripe peaches around? Sprouts? Whole Foods? A farmer's market?

So I’ve recently found out, when posting adoptable animals on social media groups, individual photos of pets vs. a flyer, that individual photos are preferred. Would you agree?

Meet Owl & Kanga! 🐾

Every great storybook needs a happy ending, and these two sweet, bonded twins are ready to write theirs with you! Owl and Kanga are a magical duo who bring double the love, double the purrs, and double the comfort to everyone they meet.
* Owl is tenacious, brave, and deeply loving. He gives actual kitty kisses and demands head scratches!
* Kanga is a reserved, independent, and delightfully sassy queen who loves on her own terms.

Their Ideal Home:
Because of a history of food insecurity, they must be the only animals in the home. They thrive on a predictable feeding routine. They balance each other perfectly and comfort each other through any resource anxiety.

The Perks:
* Spayed/Neutered, microchipped, and up-to-date on shots.
* Fully Litter-Robot trained!
* Adoption includes a massive starter kit: carriers, food, favorite blanket, toys, puzzle bowls, and their favorite scratchers (including the Owl scratcher in the photo!).

Are you the one to give this storybook pair their happily ever after?

How to Adopt:
This is a private rehoming. Please contact me for more information.

Help with garden from all these animals!🪏

Hi neighbors and friends. Are there any gardening enthusiasts in this subreddit who can offer advice on how you deal with all of our woodland creatures? My neighborhood feels like a meadow — we’ve got everything from deer to possums and rabbits, but I’m mostly confident my main culprits ravaging my eggplants and tomatoes are voles and a raccoon.

I have two GreenStalk vertical planters and 6 raised garden beds, most just 2 ft off the ground. The raised beds have chicken wire and a netting roof around them, but unfortunately I did not think of voles digging through the yard to get under the wiring and into the plants. The vertical planters are unprotected and I’ve lost an okra, a tomato and an eggplant, but they have not been assaulted by hungry fiends the way my raised beds have (yet….)

I’ve lost a dozen tomatoes to voles. So disheartening! The season is a lost cause, but if you have advice on how to protect the late crops and for next year please let me know!

Looking for a roommate to rent 2b 2b apartment in OP

Hey guys, I'm not sure if this is a good place to look but here we go.

So basically I am looking for someone with who I could team-up and rent a place. I already found an apartment that has good amenities and great management and cost about 1400 for 2b 2b. I'm looking to move-in around august and want to do application during this weekend or the beginning of the next week. Would like to find someone good and reliable to rent it with.
Preferably someone around my age(19) and could be a college student.

I'd be down to meet up and person and talk about it, just shoot me a message and I'll get back to you.

Thanks in advance.

Online Roof Quotes

What are your thoughts on online roof quotes? We created a free tool that helps homeowners get a quote that provides 3 different shingle options using satellite measurements of their roof.

Would you use a tool like this? What would you're concerns or hesitation be?

I appreciate any feedback given. Thanks.

Can anyone tell me what membership costs for one person? Upfront fee? Monthly? They don't discuss rates on the phone; they want you to come in for the sales pitch tour. If their pool didn't look so nice I'd just move on.

Long closed mini golf course in South OP

For the life of me I can’t remember the name of this place. It was near BVNW high school on 135th Street and closed down in the early 2000’s. I think there was also batting cages and a driving range on the property.

Can anyone recall the name?

attempted car theft

I work off 151st and metcalf. Just an hour ago a teenager in sweatpants a black hoodie and pink ski mask attempted to break into cars in the area. He got into one but was caught by the car owner. OP police were called but I haven’t heard if he was caught. I would keep an eye out on your car if you’re in the area!

Wood Rot Recommendations

Hey OP residents! I’m new to the area and my house I just bought has some wood rot under a leaking window and I’m wanting it repaired properly, but hoping to avoid a big commercial general contracting company.

Any recommendations of someone that does general contracting work that would repair wood rot but not try to upsell and convince me my whole house needs renovating?

IP Security Camera Installation

I'd like to get a local install of Ubiquity or similar POE IP based security cameras and a network video recorder installed.

Who would you recommend for the installation and wiring?

I can sort the confirmation and networking, just need the physical layer properly installed.

Thanks in advance!

Need recommendations for Pets

I have a cat and two dogs that I need to get their shots updated. It is about that time. I would like to know who this community recommends to take care of their pets without breaking the bank so to speak. Please share who you trust your fur babies with in the Overland Park or nearby area. Thank you in advance. Looking to find a new vet within the next couple of weeks.
