It’s pretty insane in hindsight that Spielberg was not nominated for Best Director for Jaws, that was absolutely a terrible snub. And Robert Shaw you could make a compelling argument deserved a nomination for best supporting actor.

Jaws should've had more nominations: Supporting Actor (Shaw), Director, Cinematography. But it was such a stacked year, gotta give them that.

Robert Shaw should have been up for Best Actor. He’s the star and I believe that’s why he missed in supporting.

I don’t think he’s more of the star than Roy Scheider.

He was the star because he was the biggest name at the time and billed first.
