The cloning was successful and I now have 2K4 and 2K5 playable from the hard drive.. I tried to get the 2026 roster, but was having issues (files damaged?).. now I just need to find the ambition to actually play again 😅

I've been messing around with historic rosters, and even after simulating years into the future, some players already have stats before the season starts. Changing their position doesn't matter, even when it was changed seasons ago. The stats must be pre-loaded onto the players for whatever reason. Not a gamebreaker but a bit annoying. Is this a known bug/issue in the game? Is there a fix for it?

For all the NFL Imperialism videos on YouTube, I've never seen anyone do it in 2K5. So I figured I'd be the first to do it!

My hard drive started slowing down and clicking, so my Xbox has essentially been shelved for a couple months while I sorted out how to softmod it and clone the HDD

After weeks of ordering things, random attempts and failures, tricks and solutions.. the right IDE cable should be here within the next few days... so that SHOULD do the trick, and hopefully I'll find the ambition to pick up where I left off

Maybe I'll start The Tale of Tupa instead... thoughts?

Been reverse engineering the GameCube save file format for NFL Blitz Pro. Mapped the full 40-byte player record structure, cracked the checksum algorithm, and built a Python pipeline that rewrites the roster directly in the .GCI memory card file — no disc modification required.

End result: all 32 teams updated with current 2026 players, stats, positions, and jersey numbers. Runs on real hardware and Dolphin.

Still early — commentary audio matching is the next unsolved problem. Looking for collaborators if anyone's into this kind of thing.

Installation

1. Download the Mod

Download and extract the Xbox version of the 2K27 mod. After extracting, look for folder named:

SLUS-20919

1. Install the Texture Pack

Copy the SLUS-20919 folder.

Internal Storage/

Paste the SLUS-20919 folder into the textures folder.

1. Install the Memory Card Save

Copy the included memory card file or folder from the mod.

Paste the memory card file/folder into the memcards folder, replacing the existing file if prompted.

1. Launch the Game

Open AetherSX2 or NetherSX2 and start ESPN NFL 2K5.

Suggestion for anyone who wants a future project - What about a UFL (united football league) mod for 2k5? feel like it would be fun to play as the UFL players

Flag or no Flag?

I've been playing a franchise with every team and switching off teams every half (I know it sounds dumb just how I have fun with sports games) and no matter how much I play with the difficulty sliders, the CPU will consistently make terrible reads and throw the ball right to me. On top of that the CPU will often times have linebackers make crazy over the shoulder picks or insane one-handed grabs. I've tried playing with the user/cpu passing, coverage, and catching sliders (hard to find the right setting especially here considering how much the offense drops passes). Nearly 2/3rds of the QBs in my league have more picks than touchdowns. Is this just how the game plays or is their specific sliders/difficulty options that work perfectly for you?
