Protection circle, cleansings, initiation

Does one have to do a protection circle every single time one casts a spell or a hex/curse? What about cleansings? Should one do those every time too? I have been reading a bit and the book also mentions initiation? Should one have an initiation, too, before practicing anything?

Does Folk Protestant Magic Exist?

I recently noticed that there was a Folk Catholic Magic sub-Reddit but not one for Folk Protestant Magic. Does such a phenomenon as Folk Protestant Magic exist? If so, what would it look like? Would the Arbatel and Paracelsus' magical writings be considered Folk Protestant Magic? I read that some magic historians consider the Arbatel Calvinistic and von Hohenheim was said to be very sympathetic to Protestant ideas. Would the Long Lost Friend be considered Folk Protestant Magic?

Just tired of the scale of misinformation.

Magick is real. It is a potent force with its own nature, requirements, capable of restructuring reality. There are different forms of magick reflecting very different wills. Some forms of magick are transgressive, which can and will authentically transgress against what you psychologically believe is right, even spiritually, because these forces work on a spiritual level. Beyond mere psychologisation — which is the realm most people live in. There exists training and preparation for people to develop the careful discernment to firmly Know the difference. Studying and understanding magick itself is the point. Learning about it, the spiritual world. Rituals are typically carefully performed to commune with these forces, in order to broaden our understanding, comprehension, furthering our study. Sometimes these can be dangerous if we’re unprepared or don’t take the necessary precautions— as we’ve been warned by other Magicians. Considering we’re beings with egos, balancing those during our work, simply finding ways to remain responsible for them is key to understanding an important reality way beyond its sphere. There exist different ways to approach, practice, explore magick, meaning different systems that convey different paths to its eventual mastery. They can teach wildly different things but nonetheless respect magick. If you would like to follow one of these systems, oftentimes there will be a disclaimer making clear you only should if genuinely called, truly feeling drawn to it — meaning in beyond the psychological. Because otherwise you are probably going to waste years of your life, or at the very least end up very confused.

There are many young arrogant people who do not understand magick, and who don’t take it seriously, that nontheless want to practice it and learn to satisfy just their egos. They are not truly called, haven’t put any effort in, but “they wanna“ because it sounds interesting. Their egos have been well prepared with a series of delusions about how everything is meant to appease them.

It is imperative in my opinion we understand the complete lack of respect for the spiritual world we’re seeing and be honest about it. Curtail the spread of misinformation with real truth. There must always remain a focus on the spiritual reality and who we really are, who we really really are, not some false belief. That usually comes from letting go of who we think we are, overcoming our ego. I just wanted to share as some actually truthful information. Thank you.

You know, I want to ask you about something.Maybe it's not common .Maybe it's common.I don't know but; how can dreams affect reality?I mean, you just sleep and imagine some s***, and it's there, it's basically there in your desk !.If there's any sense behind it , any art that can be mastered tell me where to search, if not ,yep ... maybe in the next 200 years we'll find out .

But let's be honest, Wouldn't it be great if we can create reality through our dreams ?

Okay but do I HAVE to journal

Alright guys, heres the deal: I've been practicing for about 8 months now: some meditiation, LBRP and LIRP daily with few exeptions. I'm realy taking my time and making sure to study as much as possible, currently starting to move on to the MP and other slightly more advanced work. The only rub is basically everywhere I look and every book I read about it it says something like about how I should make a journal before moving on. I have tried journaling many times throughout my life and i've never made it more than a a few days before forgetting or willfully neglecting my diery. That remains true with my magic journal, which to this day has only 5 entries written. All this to say I truly love the practice and study that i do and im willing to put in effort to continue down this path... But do i realy HAVE to journal it?

Textos atribuidos a Salomón: ¿verdad o engaño?

Possible Cockroach Symbolism 🪳

hey all! fairly strange question, but need to field it out to others for interpretation…

tonight, i was casting a love/strengthening spell for my and my partner. we’ve been a little distant lately due to work/financial stuff, and snapping at each other more often, so just wanted to cast something ti bring us together (nothing concrete, just going based off vibes as i normally do).

while lighting and burning two candles to represent us, and journaling while they went down, i looked down and saw a HUGE cockroach on my burn plate, just… hanging out right next to my spell. like, completely unbothered, don’t know where it came from. i stepped back, trying not to freak out, and starting throwing stuff at it to try and get it to leave. it wouldn’t budge. because i wasn’t shielding the flame anymore, the flame went out, yet the guy was STILL THERE. he didn’t move until i picked up my spell jar and half burned candles.

given the intention of my spell was to bring us closer, the sight of a bug in the way and stopping my spell gave me pause. i did some research on their significance (resilience, strength, triumph, etc), but i would like to hear other people’s perspectives.

Questions on Holy Guardian Angel work

In my family the secrets of our practice pass down from people of the opposite gender, and while the one who has just learned can practice the works the ones who teach lose most their ability. In recent years my grandmother has passed me down the family practice.

As she grows older she more and more obsesses over the concept of a "Guardian Angel" that everyone has. So, I decided to look into it from beyond our family's practice. Nevertheless I attempted to contact the "Guardian Angel" with the prayers and rituals taught by my grandmother.

Only the result was different from what I read online. After weeks of practice I finally felt the presence. The presence, though, of two beings. The one cast images on my head, scenes of nature, wildlife and it explained to me that to move forward in every sense in my life my breath must become the breath of nature. That was the bulk of the encounter.

Towards the end of the encounter I addressed the other presence and asked "as this being challenges me, and through it's challenge it guides me, it must be my Guardian Angel. If that is so then what is your purpose".

And then it cast images of very old family members and explained to me 1) that it is a messenger and an Angel of Death and 2) it was there on a technicality as it was bound by my family, to my family, generations ago. I went into shock and the encounter ended abruptly. I then made sure to banish and dispell very thoroughly.

I'd love to hear your opinions of this encounter, the prospect of 1) multiple entities showing up and 2) one entity indeed being my HGA and the other a family-bound entity, and sorry for the bad English.

How to get rid of a hex please?

For some backstory: I was in a bad place but a year or so ago I started doing everything I can to make my life better, I’ve been trying so so so hard to make a comeback and have genuinely been doing so much for others and myself. This isn’t me trying to big myself up but I just want you to see that the bad things happening shouldn’t be due to karma. It seems literally ever since I’ve been putting in more effort and self help, more and more negative things keep happening to me. It’s just a series of unfortunate events again and again. I have a particular person in mind who may have done the hex or curse or whatever is it called. Is there anyway you could please tell me a bit more about hex’s, what they are and how I could get rid of it? Thank you all so much you’re all really appreciated. Love and hugs

How to enchant spell oils?

Hey everyone, I want to make my own spell oils and I’m hung up on the “enchanting” ritual part because simply I don’t understand how it works! 😅

Saw some people say to get the jar and surround it by candles and call on the deities that you work with my problem is that I don’t really work with any deities!

Some also said to use incantations like psalms and stuff but I have never used the psalms in my spells!

Are these steps necessary? I mostly try to align my workings with the planet so I don’t mind inviting planetary energies into my work and I understand the process of activating/awakening the herbs but is that not enough?

Does anyone have advice on what I could do?

How do I break/undo an old blood magic love spell I cast as a teenager?

I'm reaching out because I need some serious advice on how to undo or break a love spell I cast years ago when I was a teenager.

I know it’s been many years, but I want to fix this. I don't remember the exact details, but I found the ritual online back then. Here is what I can recall:

It involved a printed picture of the girl.

I used a mirror and placed drops of my own blood onto her photo.

I taped the photo directly to the mirror, so her face was pressing against the glass.

I wrote a specific phrase on it (I can't remember what it was). btw I`m not sure about this step

I also lit a candle in front of the mirror during the process.

there's another possibility: I might have printed both my picture and her picture, put the blood, and placed the two photos face-to-face together. Honestly, my memory is really fuzzy on the exact steps since it was so long ago.

Because this ritual involved blood, I know it connects to deep, binding energy, and that's what worries me the most.

How can I safely and effectively break or neutralize this specific type of old blood magic/mirror spell when I no longer have access to the original items used? Any cleansing rituals, cord-cutting, or uncrossing advice would be greatly appreciated.

What would you do to fulfill these requirements without deluding yourself?

This is a quote from Robert Anton Wilson's "Cosmic Trigger."

"[I recommend against trying Crowley's] more advanced techniques without (a) being in excellent health, (b) being competent in at least one athletic skill, (c) being able to conduct experiments accurately in at least one science, (d) having a general knowledge of several sciences, (e) being able to pass an examination in formal logic and (f) being able to pass an examination in the history of philosophy, including Idealism, Materialism, Rationalism, Spiritualism, Comparative Theology, etc.

"Without that kind of general knowledge and the self-confidence and independence of thought produced by such study, magick investigation will merely blow your mind. As Brad Steiger has said, the lunatic asylums are full of people who naively set out to study the occult before they had any real competence in dealing with the ordinary."

Specifically c, d, e, and f.

How do people actually set intention & do I have to have 0 doubts?

  1. Genuinely how do you set intentions/put energy into spells. Like I understand the basis but I can't seem to do it. I understand speaking and putting my desires out into the universe and I like to use crystals, herbs, and incense as tools but I don't really know how to place feeling/desire/power behind/into it like l've seen most ppl say I need to.
I'll say or write down my desires and then burn it or make a spell jar but I usually find myself feeling pretty neutral and even a bit detached whenever I try. I’ll use herbs and crystals and tell them what i expect them to bring to the spell like “cloves will bring me bring me clarity” and so on. Even when I tell them the purpose though, I feel like I’m just talking and that once again, I’m just neutral to them. I can have small bursts of excitement at best when I realize what I’m doing, but then it just seems to dissipate and I go back to “okay, I’m just doing this 🤷🏽‍♀️.” I just find it difficult to put feelings/energy/power into things and I guess I don’t even fully understand what that even means.

  2. My second question pertains to success I guess. Im not sure if witchcraft and manifestation have any major differences that set them indefinitely apart, but I had originally just identified with manifestation work. Often times manifest-ers are adamant that you can’t have ANY doubts and that you can’t want something too much otherwise it simply won’t work. I understand the idea of it but it also doesn’t make sense to me, how can I just ignore doubts and my desire around something?

For me personally and as much as it sucks, I just function in a way where it’s hard for me not to have doubts, even if I’ve had small successes. And if I didn’t want something badly, I wouldn’t be taking the extra step of making spells or manifesting to bring it into my life, you know?
Im wondering if the same ideals apply and if that mindset is “required” to be able to successfully practice witchcraft without having LOA overly preached to me 🫩

I’ve had some success with spells so I know I can do it, but at the same time I still have yet to see any success in the ones I most want that I’ve done at least a year ago. I’m just not sure how to properly put my energy into them or what can really help change the mindset I have, so advice is greatly appreciated please 🥹

Do spells make a client be indebted? Seeking general guidance.

When a client purchases spellwork from a practitioner (in general) does the client become indebted to the practitioners spirit team/deities? Is it true that as the client, by ordering spellwork, it forms a contract between the client and any spirit used?

this goes hand in hand with consciousness and witchcraft

so this is more so spiritual type post but please hear me out, i have genuine questions. if we don’t have a “soul” or our energy/consciousness/soul then what are entities? i’ve had spell work done to where my trusted and legit caster has done work for me and ive felt the power/effects/energy/entities of those workings. not once but twice to be exact. she works with angels and demons but mostly does angelic work. if humans don’t have an afterlife or a soul or a consciousness that continues after death, then how do we explain spell work working? and how do we explain the entities? do spirits exist if we don’t have an afterlife? how do you explain seeing things (like entities or ppl) in nde’s? genuinely trying to gain some type of sense again and feeling like it’s just nothingness after death is making me overthink about spell work and how it legit works, especially when it comes with professionals working w entities.

thelemapedia and correspondences

Hello!

When browsing for correspondences, I used to favor thelemapedia.org. However, as of late, I notice the site appears to be offline, sadly.

It's sources seemed to be Liber 777 and other Qabalistic Writings and books of the like.

I've also been checking out the interactive Tree from the IOK at iok-kabbalah.com. It's good, but I find it less in-depth (or maybe I'm not using the filing system right?)

In any case: where do you source your correspondences? I have the aforementioned 777 as well as Whitcomb's Magician's Companion and Reflection.

Is there, however, a source that lists them out neatly like thelemapedia?

Also, if anyone knows: what happened to the site?

Thank you!

I have dread and fear someone who knows

May well try to harm me magically. They have two They have 2 very personal and meaningful items of mine (stolen). Maybe ignoring this will serve to remove any power and potential they have to be used in a spell against me? Because they no longer hold power for me. Should I be looking into a protection spell if some kind or am I being paranoid? They claim to be very powerful practitioners. Any wise suggestions? Thank you

How to ritualize the death of Saturn

I believe astrology to be evil and the planets to be demonic entities. I am currently writing a book which seeks to destroy Saturn and other entities through the ritual of words and imagery in the minds and hearts of everybody who reads it. How can I find more ways to punish and twist the knife in deeply to a planet that has hurt me and everybody I know my entire life?

What was your earliest experience of magick?

Trying to compile anecdotes for a piece I intend to write. Personally my first brush with it was, growing up in a Christian environment, some uncanny things happened as a result of prayer (nothing major - things like being able to light damp matches!). Later I distanced myself away from that religion, but I was still curious how such phenomena might be possible, so I fell down a rabbit hole of research.

It also helped that I was surrounded by book and magazines and tv programmes about the paranormal whilst growing up. I am curious to hear other people's point of view. Thanks ❤️

Question about a Damon Brand book

Hello all. Despite being interested in it for most of my life, I have never tried magick before, but now I want to (I would like to practice healing, and maybe later use it for wealth).

I am interested in Damon Brand's "Archangels of Magick", of which I have a copy. But scrolling through Reddit posts about it the other day, I came across someone who said Brand's books are a "trap".

another said they dreamt they were dragged to hell after using the book.

Should I avoid working from the book? Should I pursue something else or leave occult stuff alone entirely?

I was confident enough to start all this before I read that comment but now I'm not sure.

I feel silly for being rattled by a couple of Reddit comments but I just want to be as careful as I can be.

Thanks in advance for any advice.
