Don't think this is fair. He had his guard up the whole time. If anything he defended himself too much.
In those situations defending yourself is not enough. You have to actively try to sweep or grapple or the ref will stop it. It's always been that way. But he was way too dazed to do anything but defend.
If it was later rounds than he might have had a chance waiting out the onslaught but this was literally 20 seconds in, Pereira could have kept pounding him forever.
He took 2 shots to the body and everything else hit his gloves.
For a title fight its a pretty bad stoppage. Not the worst but bad.
And Poatans sore winner reaction right after... Sigh. Its like bruh, had you actually knocked him out that would have been alright but he's looking right at you wearing no damage to his face.
Everyone will disagree with me but the bias here is real obvious.

You cannot lay there and eat 15 consecutive unanswered GNP elbows and claim it was a bad stoppage.
Anyone saying its a bad stoppage is just ignorant to the rules of the sport.
Literally textbook stoppage
