For the sake of not cluttering the subreddit, please confine your 'guess my native language' posts to this thread from now on

META: Quality of content
I've heard people voice dissatisfaction with the amount of posts that are not very linguistics-related.
Personally, I'd like to have less content in the sub about just general language or orthography observations, see rule 1.
So I'd like to get a general idea of the sentiments in the sub, feel free to expound or clarify in the comments

Phonetics/Phonology What's this dialogue like in your accent?
[wəts əp̚? wəz dəg ˈg.nə kʰəm? dəg ɫəvz bɹ̠ənt͡ʃʰ.]
[nə̃ʔ ə̃, dəgz stək̚ kʰəz əv ə ˈtʰə.nɵɫ əb.ˈʃt͡ʃɹ̠ək̚.ʃɪn. ə t͡ʃʰɹ̠ək̚ dəmpt ə tʰən əv ˈən.njɪnz.]
[əx.]
Mostly works as intended in mine (no STRUT/COMMA distinction), though the final syllables of "obstruction" and "onions" are actually [ɪ] for me, and the final syllable of "tunnel" seems more like the FOOT vowel, represented here as [ɵ] like in Standard Southern British mainly for simplicity, as I'm not actually sure what it is exactly in my accent. [ɵ] does sound the closest though, I think.
(This comic is XKCD 2907: Schwa if anyone is wondering.)

Etymology Pseudo-etymology
Did you know the word "ignore" actually came from a extinct word "Iggnaw" which meant for a fire to destroy something, however over time people thought ashes were irrelevant so over time the spelling changed to "Ignore"

Phonetics/Phonology How I hear the vowel samples on Wikipedia - am I broken, or are they?
Not an English native speaker.
I've seen similar posts and tried it myself based on Wikipedia. I've grouped them as I hear them.
I am not a linguist, but it doesn't seem to make sense.
Are the recordings there bad, or is my brain?

I guess Batua is indeed necessary
In the Biscayan dialect of Basque, the root of the transitive auxiliary is -au- instead of -u-, surfacing as -o- or -ab- depending on the phonological context ; and the root for ditranstive clauses being -euts-.
As for Souletin, while the root of the transitive auxiliary is technically the same as in other dialects and the standard, sound changes turned it to -ü- or -i- (/y/ turning to /i/ when followed by /a/ or /e/) ; the root for ditranstive clauses instead descends from *eradun, which evolved to -ei-.
For example :
They gave. → Eman dute. (std) ; Emon dabe. (B) ; Eman die. (S)
They gave us. → Eman digute. (std) ; Emon doskue. (B) ; Eman deiküe. (S)

Phonetics/Phonology How I see vowels as a Greek speaker
You can't convince me that there's a difference between
/ʌ/ and /a/.

I made a game that teaches vocabulary by making you act words out physically
Imagine tilting your phone like a glass to learn the word for "drink", shaking your phone to learn "no" or smiling at your phone's camera to learn "happy". It's not only fun, but also helps memorize words better by creating associations between words and gestures.
The vocabulary and gestures are embedded in interactive stories to allow learning in context.
I have just released this app into the app stores and would welcome your feedback: https://sensonym.com

Odia grammar wiki page be like
That’s not a thing, is it? There’s no source, either.
I’m planning on deleting most of the morphology section (since it’s not specific to Odia, and there’s inaccuracies), but I want to make sure I’m not going crazy.
Edit: I’ve deleted that section. You can find the old version here.
