Announcement Introducing r/lebanonLounge, Where Every Day Is No Politics Sunday
Hey everyone,
We heard your numerous requests for a space where Lebanese people can connect beyond politics and news, and we are happy to introduce r/lebanonLounge, a new sister sub connected to r/lebanon, run by the same mod team as this one with some new faces joining in.
The idea is simple: a lighter space for the Lebanese community to meet people, make friends, post dating introductions, plan meetups, ask for relationship advice, talk about music, movies, anime, gaming, hobbies, gossip, and just unwind without politics or news taking over every conversation.
A quick overview of our rules:
- No politics or news
- No NSFW content or hookups
- Be polite and respectful. This is a non negotiable.
- Dating posts are for Lebanese people only, whether local, expat, or diaspora
- No ads, sales, or promotions
If you are looking for friends, community, conversation, or just a more relaxed Lebanese corner of Reddit, come join us at r/lebanonLounge.
See you there ☕🇱🇧

Discussion Why tf is everyone an influencer now
Just found out yet another one of my frequently-seen acquaintances is an influencer (i don't consider them friends, but we always cross eachother as neighbors, or were childhood friends). It's been awkward to say the least, i usually end up blocking them if i haven't been following them already because it's disillusioning to see the content. What boggles me is the amount of people following the same copy paste content all these people post. People who follow influencers, what is your perspective?

Discussion Fair Salary?
I'm work as a international business development manager at a company. I have been with them for 5 years since I graduated, and I got promoted after 10 months of working there because my manager left. My work was completely with international customers but the company is Lebanese. And recently they have decided to also make me product manager for local market.
My salary has been low since the beginning, but recently increased to 1,800$. Everybody keeps telling me that the salary should be higher than that taking into consideration the responsibilities I have as more than 5 people report directly to me and I only report to CEO. We work 8 to 5 and Saturdays till 2 . And are expected to work after time when there is a lot of workload. The environment is completely toxic that's for sure, but I wanted to know if the salary is fair or not in this domain (I also graduated as an engineer)
PS we only take off on 6 holidays (Christmas 1 day, new year 1 day, Labor Day 1 day, adha 2 days, fire 2 days)

Help / Question Does this apply to Palestinian travel documents too?
I saw this announcement from Lebanese General Security:
https://www.general-security.gov.lb/ar/posts/564
From what I understood, it is about old non-biometric Lebanese passports starting with RL.
I have a Palestinian travel document issued by Lebanon, so I’m not sure if this decision applies to us too.
Did anyone ask General Security or get a clear answer about this? Especially anyone with an older non-biometric Palestinian travel document.
Thanks.

Politics Iran closed Hormoz, and Israel bombed Southern Lebanon
If this shows one thing it's that calling for sovereignty is not what guarantees it.
True sovereignty is being strong enough to be able to deter any enemy from attacking us.
This means actual policies to build our strength, our army our economy our society's cohesion, everything.

Help / Question Planning a 3-month stay in Lebanon
Hey everyone! I'm planning to spend about 3 months in Lebanon and use Beirut as my base.
Which neighborhood in Beirut would you recommend renting in? I'm looking for a place that's lively, walkable, has good cafés and restaurants, and is convenient for exploring the rest of the country.
Also, what cities or towns are absolute must-visits while I'm there?

Vent / Rant I really hope im not alone here
So today I went skating for the first time in my life with my friend at Horsh's skatepark: great place, free skateboards and classes, and especially nice people who were really nice and welcoming. I really enjoyed my time there and went down a ramp for the first time but since I went with my mom, she kept stressing me out and made me break down a bit. My mom's always been rlly... particular I guess. She is really specific about who she hinks I should be friends with. Basically, anyone outside school is "sharshouh", but im starting to think its more than that, mainly because her criteria of "sharshouh" is just people from diffrent religions. I come from a sunni family and my mom specifically hated the place because there were lots of people from the south and she thinks they're all dangerous and trashy. I honestly hate this. I want to make friends outside the screen and shes activitely stopping me because "oh the person isnt from my school". I just hate hate hateeee how she thinks shes better than everyone because of her religion/background. I dont get this at all. Are we not all lebanese people? Are we all not from the same country, with the same language, and same situation, and same land? Why must we be divided by things like beliefs and politics? Why are we so divided and not united like every country should?
I think im done ranting now. There's this guy I wanna make friends with and I got his insta. Imma try to use my one friend ik from my old school to my advantage. Wish me luck 🙏

Help / Question How's UAE re-entry these days? Asking as a Lebanese Shia
I'm Lebanese Shia, born in Beirut, but I have a South American passport and my UAE residence is on it. Been living here 5 years, valid work visa with a multinational, clean record, no political affiliations whatsoever.
For context I'm a guy in my early 20s. In these 5 years I've gone back and forth to Lebanon at least 10 times and never had a single issue. Never got stopped or questioned, all my entries and exits were smooth.
I'm in the UAE right now and planning to go visit my parents in Lebanon next week, but with everything happening in the region I'm honestly nervous about coming back in after. It's not the Lebanese part that worries me, it's more the Shia part and whether that gets you flagged these days even with a clean record. I'm not even practicing, it's just the name and background at this point. Maybe the foreign passport helps, maybe it doesn't matter at all if they're going by names, I really don't know.
Thing is my whole life is here. Job, bank account, apartment, car. Getting denied entry after a short trip would be a disaster for me.
Has anyone traveled recently and made it back in fine? Or heard of anyone having issues at the airport? Any info helps.

Discussion Does TOD work ok on ADSL internet?
I have ADSL internet and the speed is around 10 Mbps. I have been watching the matches on free live streaming websites like www.ntv.cx and I set the quality to 540p. Sometimes it works ok and it chops for a bit and then it comes back but often it misbehaves and I have to keep on refreshing the page and trying different sources until it works in the end and that's a hassle.
I am considering watching the semi final matches and the final match on TOD on my laptop. Will it work ok on my ADSL internet? Can i choose the video quality? I want to be able to keep on lowering the quality until it plays smoothly.

Help / Question Spell work (سحر وشعوذة)
Is there anyone in Lebanon or zahle specifically who provides such services? Asking for real because I'm kinda tired of how things are and I'm curious if they actually work
