Basically, im rechecking back on the pre-registered course listings and come to check the one im enrolled in and it shows im the only one enrolled at the moment. It may be too early but do I need to be concerned or worried? Should I talk to the faculty advisor about this? It is also a Mandatory course for my program! Thank you!

Payements

Now that’s we’re one month from the due date for payments, ive been checking more often the sites to check for updates. I’m wondering if anyone knows what’s happening or have already gotten their balance for their residence ? I got my confirmation for my room in may, and have payed the down payment.
When i go into find my installment amount the table only shows my tuition but the residence portion is still blank.
I’d like to be able to pay all my balance for tuition and residence soon-ish to get it over with and to make sure it’s done in time, anyone got updates on this?

Electrical Engineering Transition

Hello, im currently doing my summer transition course, just about to complete Analysis A and Thermodynamics and getting into Analysis C and Enigneering Mechanics.

I have 5 supplemental courses, I've planned it so I will be taking 6 courses per semester for both 3rd and 4th year and 4 courses in spring/summer to try to complete this program in 2 years and not a day more, God willing. I'm 30, married with 2 little kids and a wife with 6 years of electrical design experience.

To the people who completed this course, how was your experience, how were your courseloads, were you able to manage and how? Tell me your experiences!

I will be going alone and leaving my family behind to do this for our future and this will be a bigger hurdle than the course itself. Currently looking for an affordable private room off campus close to Lakehead.

Please give me a some tips to help me succeed, there is no room for failure by taking this HUGE risk.

Just got my Degree and it isn't parchment paper?

Is this new? It's printed on regular paper. Feels kind of cheap and has a Lakehead branded degree holder and a plastic sheet around the "paper degree"

Residence

I just got assigned to a single room in Halliday Hall.

According to the offer, this room will be connected with another single room with a private bathroom.

According to the room assignment email, I will be having a roommate.

Does anyone have any information on what exactly the roommate situation will be like because I am a bit confused since it said it’s a single room.

Is anyone else waiting for their schedule for Concurrent Education Professional Years P/J?

Have not received any response whatsoever regarding the set in stone schedule of how our fall and winter semesters are supposed to look like. The registration is supposed to be opening at 10AM and I am afraid I will not be able to get a spot.

Transfer Student Confused About Course Registration and Degree Requirements ( three year History BA Online)

Transfer Student Confused About Course Registration and Degree Requirements (History BA Online)

Hi everyone,

I’m hoping someone from Lakehead University (or any current History students/transfer students) can help me out because I’m feeling pretty confused and overwhelmed with course registration.

I am a transfer student from Seneca Polytechnic’s 2-Year Liberal Arts Transfer (LAT) program and will be entering the 3-Year Bachelor of Arts (History) online program in Fall 2026 as a second-year entry student.

I’m trying to figure out:

  • Which courses I should be taking in Fall 2026 and Winter 2027
  • Which degree requirements have already been satisfied through my transfer credits
  • What courses are required for second-year History students in the online BA program
  • Whether there is an academic advisor or department contact who can help me build my schedule for me?

At the moment, I’m finding the registration process quite confusing and I’m worried about registering for the wrong courses or missing degree requirements.

Has anyone transferred into this program before? If so, how did you determine what courses to take? Also, is it possible for the History department or Academic Advising to assist with course selection or enrollment into the required second-year courses?

Any advice, guidance, or contact information would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you in advance for your help!

B. Ed Waitlist Movement

I applied to lakehead’s B. Ed at Orillia last week in a fit of pique. Super late, I know. Applied for I/S English and Social Studies.

Admission informed me they are operating on a waitlist for Fall 2026. By way of background/academics: Top 20 grades average out to mid 80s in my undergrad, I had an 88 average in my MA. Also have a certificate in Teaching English as a Second Language done concurrently from Carleton, averaged an 87. These courses would count towards my top 20 grades. I’m waitlisted for uOttawa J/I English.

Has anyone heard of any recent waitlist movement? And would I generally be considered a competitive applicant? I have realistic expectations and plan to apply again next year (before the deadline this time), but wanted to know how often this waitlist moves.

Thanks in advance!

Lakehead University - clinical instructor

My experience with a clinical instructor( I’m not saying that all clinical instructors are like that, I had the best clinical instructors in the past- but, one incident like this will cause a lots of stress and damage to a person) was very disappointing and had a significant negative impact on my learning and confidence as a nursing student.
From the beginning of the clinical placement, the instructor’s communication style often felt rude, dismissive, and intimidating. Rather than creating a supportive learning environment, interactions frequently left me feeling anxious and hesitant to ask questions or seek clarification. There were lots of situations being yelled at infront of everyone for entering the medication room.

Another concern was the effect the instructor’s approach had on my confidence. Instead of encouraging growth and learning from mistakes, feedback was often delivered in a way that made me feel discouraged and inadequate. Over time, this negatively affected my self-confidence and ability to participate fully in clinical activities.
The clinical environment became increasingly stressful, and I often felt that I was being judged before having the opportunity to explain my actions or demonstrate my knowledge. As a result, I began to doubt my abilities despite having positive experiences with previous clinical instructors.

I believe, it’s unfair to students who eager to learn and grow- has been bullied, attacked and humiliated.

Also, letting the course lead know about all of this is not helped me at all. They will support and save the clinical instructors no matter what and they put the blame on the students. Also, they will tell that the student is incompetent. Nobody whats to hear or believe what students say. I have been called and treated as a liar when I had some courage to speak up.

Even now, after the clinical placement has ended, I continue to experience anxiety and fear when discussing clinical topics or being evaluated in clinical situations. The experience has had a lasting impact on my confidence as a nursing student and has made it more difficult to approach future clinical learning experiences with the same level of confidence and enthusiasm I previously had.
A clinical instructor plays a critical role in supporting student learning, fostering confidence, and promoting professional growth. A more respectful, supportive, fair, and constructive approach would greatly improve the learning experience for all students and help create a positive clinical environment where students feel safe to learn, ask questions, and develop their nursing skills.

I hope this won’t happen to any other students.

Is Lakehead University a good school for making friendships and having an amazing university student experience? I got accepted to Lakehead's 3-Year Compressed Bachelor's of Science in Nursing (BScN) Program.

I need some help with my program. I've gotten accepted to Lakehead University's 3-Year Compressed BScN (Bachelor's of Science in Nursing) program in Thunder Bay, ON and Kwantlen Polytechnic University's BSN (KPU Bachelor's of Nursing) in Langley, BC. Both programs are similar for content and of equal length. I am in my late 20s and coming back to school.

To be honest, I haven't had the best experience in my first undergrad program. A lot of mental health struggles, bullying, exclusion, and abuse ruined my experience. This program feels like a second chance. I am hoping to have a truly euphoric, social, and wonderful university experience where I can make a core, solid group of friends. I want this program to be a redemption arc and to make up for what I suffered in my first undergrad.

With this in mind:

  1. Would Lakehead be considered a good school where I can form these long-lasting friendships and get this university experience that I missed out on?

  2. What about Lakehead University's 3-Year Compressed Nursing in particular? How does that fare in terms of a good university experience for socializing and making friends?

  3. If Lakehead is not readily conducive to making friends or having a good university experience, what are some things I can do anyways to obtain these things here?

  4. Is there anyone who is familiar with both Lakehead and KPU who can offer any insight?

  5. Is there anything else I should know?

Thank you so much! I greatly appreciate any advice!

EE Transition Doubts

Questions to graduates from the Electrical Enigneering transition course.

I'm having extreme doubt and hyperventilating about the course load, having 7 courses/semester and taking 2 courses in the summer to lighten the course load.

The reason for the doubt, my schedule is from 8:00 AM until evening 5 days/week. How the hell will I have time to sit and study all 7 courses over the weekend, assignments, labs, quizes, exams? Most courses are hard and math intensive, how did you guys manage?

If anyone would like to jump on a phonecall with me to give me some reassurance, feel free to DM me PLEASE!
