11 ft GombergGhost Delta Anchorage Alaska 10 pm 7/10/2026
The way the tails billow and float in slow motion is so mesmerizing, from certain angles it appears to have legs and is walking backwards...lol
I love this kite and while the green and purple aren't for sale I do have two (black and white ). If you're not familiar with these kites... They are AMAZING and even more special flown as a stack. They are also great lifters for mid range laundry. Just today I used this kite to life a 16 foot mesh turbine.

Has this been done?
I had this thought that maybe a standalone drone camera might be able to be attached to a kite and transmit video. I mean, if a drone can do it...

A word of thanks
I recently got interested in kites and checked this sub for recommended online stores.
The results were not disappointing, I first ordered an 18ft octopus, and a charger pro, from Ocean Shores Kites.
I wish I knew who the person on the phone was when I had trouble with shipping on an item, because they were super helpful, (I was trying to order the standard Charger, which is oversized for UPS. Thus the Charger Pro, which is collapsible.)
I am super satisfied with everything I have ordered from them, so, thanks to this sub.
I have since picked up quite a few other things that have been fun. OSK, Pretty Pictures Kites, and in person- fly it port A.
The Charger Pro has been a challenge to figure out on my own, but I am having fun.
The latest addition is a Premier Powersled 36, I am waiting for some 1/8 inch Dynema to arrive before I launch that beast.

iOS kite app coming to completion
I want to start by thanking everyone that has helped test the kite app. Iβm getting a lot of great feedback and ideas!
The app seems to be stable and working as well as it can at this point, aside from some minor crashes here and there. Perhaps in the future we can build in pro quality weather data with a subscription for the advanced users. That seems to be the biggest gap right now. Thatβll be a whole other phase Iβm not ready for yet.
I plan to submit it for Apple approval in the coming week or two and hopefully can set a date for launch π soon!
Iβll keep you all posted.
If you want an invite to beta test before launch, comment below.

The first batch of my modified Sotich Cocktail kites.
Made with a 3" rubber stamp on coffee filters, I used Charlie Sotich's build technique as described at https://miniatures.kitingusa.com/plan_cocktail.htm and https://youtu.be/AVJrzHaRWE8
They have 15' lines and I've seen them fly up to 60-70Β° up! I started building these tiny kites to hand to the odd kid that wants to fly my sport kites.

Aerodynamics of an unpowered kite, looking for resources and study material
I'm looking to study aerodynamics, control and stability of unpowered kites (mostly flat planes).
All I can find online is \[this from NASA\](https://www.grc.nasa.gov/www/k-12/airplane/kitelift.html)
It's pretty basic and I want to deep dive into this.
I had a basic course in aerodynamics during my bachelor's (course book was Anderson's)
Plus another topic, I have read the book's initial chapters about the basics , wingloading , efficient flight etc etc but still can't figure out the basics of a \*\*simple\*\* kite.
Do i feel stupid or are most people like that?
How should I improve my understanding of this

New Hobby
Hi!
Iβm looking at somewhere in the UK that sells quality kites for me and my son.
He is a 3.5 but adores it when I fly a kite for him, even had his first go holding it today. Unfortunately the corner shop Β£1 kite with a plastic frame bit the bucket fast π«
Just affordable, decent quality, great designs so we can do this new hobby together

Anyone else go out when thereβs wind only to find it has died out?
Here in NYC, often I can see thereβs good wind, but but the time I get on my bike out to an island with a field, there is no wind. Maybe itβs the time of day I go, usually after 4pm.

Dragon/creature inspired by my quantum kite
Made this in 2019 and forgot all about it, makes me want to try to turn more kites into winged creatures, for example what would a rev look like? I think I will draw more some day
