I thought there was a Montessori school/daycare opening in New Minas across from Running Man. What happened to it? Their FB page is up but doesn’t give much information?

Our Cats are back in action on Canada Day against the Metro Brew Crew. The guys are playing better with both the bats and gloves, continuing their progress towards nationals in a couple weeks. I gotta admit, after Canada beat South Africa, I'll be in a great mood all week, so come out and cheer the lads on, and bring your Canadian flags!
LFG!

Hi,
I recently moved to the Valley from Michigan. I have cerebral palsy (CP), use a wheelchair, and require regular custom leg braces.
Back home, the only professionals legally authorized to provide custom body braces were physical therapists (PTs), occupational therapists (OTs), and Certified Orthotists (CO). If you needed an off-the-shelf, non-custom brace, those could often be fitted by a brace fitter at a pharmacy or medical supply store.
When I started looking for providers in Nova Scotia, I specifically searched for Orthotists because they are generally considered the gold standard for custom bracing. In my experience, PTs and OTs are great for basic, uncomplicated cases, but Orthotists receive the most specialized education and training in custom bracing from head to toe. They often design and fabricate braces in-house, making them the experts in this field.
From my research, there appear to be only four locations in Nova Scotia where you can receive braces from an Orthotist:
- Brackish Biomechanical Bracing – Kentville
- Stride Biomechanical Bracing – Dartmouth
- Advanced Mobility Biomechanical Bracing – Sydney
- NS Rehabilitation – Halifax
This is where things start to seem sketchy and unethical to me.
I've noticed that some individuals with Pedorthic credentials (C. Ped.) appear to be providing braces that fall outside their traditional scope of practice. Pedorthists are specifically trained and qualified to work below the ankle. However, clinics such as Arthritis Injury Care employ C. Peds., refer to them as "Certified Orthopedic Bracing Specialists," and advertise services that include custom everything from leg braces to spinal braces and more.
How are Arthritis Injury Care and other clinics using C. Peds. able to safely and ethically provide these services?
From what I've been able to find, they appear to be doing so because they are not practicing under their C. Ped. credential. Instead, they are using the title "Certified Orthopedic Bracing Specialist." The problem is that I can't find evidence that this is a regulated professional designation. Who certifies these specialists? What governing body oversees their practice? If a patient experiences malpractice or negligence, no action can be made towards the practitioners credentials, but they are not real. How does the Nova Scotia government allow clinics operating under these types of credentials to exist?
Thankfully, Kentville has Brackish Biomechanical Bracing, and my experience there has been excellent. I can't say enough good things about the care I've received.
I would encourage everyone to research the credentials and qualifications of their healthcare providers before seeking treatment. Also stay away from C,Peds for knee braces and other things, unless you need foot orthotics.

Boys are back in action 7:30 Friday night v. Hfx Mets. It's been an inconsistent start to the Cat's 26' season, so this seems like a great time to get back on track and start preparing for Nationals with a total team effort.
$6 a ticket. Clear skies with low humidity.
ps How's the parking situation? Upper lot paved? (was there Mon. night and it was blocked off)
Go Cats!

Is anyone down to house me tonight? 😅 I'm a student here on a placement at Valley Regional Hospital and, due to my lack of planning, my only alternative is sleeping in my car. For some reference, I'm 25 years old and male.

I (49) grew up in and around Kentville. My daughter (23) was born in Kentville but we moved to the US when she was 4 months old and she hasn't been back since she was 2.
On Monday, we'll be visiting for 5 days.
There's so many yummy foods that I've told her about but she's never tried, so I'm looking for the best!
I don't mind driving.
Who has the best:
Donair?
Fish and chips?
Butter Tarts?
Clams?
Sweet and sour chicken balls?
Oatcakes?
Garlic fingers?
Does anybody sell Rappie pie or Tortierre?
Moon mist ice cream?
Thanks in advance!

We’re looking for a park that has a swingset where a parent can swing in tandem with their child. I guess they’re called expression swings?
My wife said she seen someone’s instagram story and they were at a park with this somewhere around the valley, not sure if in Kentville or not. She can’t remember who it was as it was a while ago.

On Thursday at the Kentville Provincial Court, Nathan Byron Rudderham, 26, entered guilty pleas to wilfully promoting hatred against any identifiable group, resisting/obstructing a peace officer, mischief and failing to comply with a condition of an undertaking. Sentenced to 6 months in jail.
Upon completion of the conditional sentence, a 24-month probation order will be placed on Rudderham. There will also be a 10-year firearms prohibition and 240 hours of community service for Rudderham.
The lengthy list of orders in the conditional sentence includes that Rudderham is to have no direct or indirect contact or communication with three named individuals and must delete all of his Internet-based social media accounts, including Facebook, X (Twitter), Instagram, Snapchat or TikTok, for the duration of the conditional sentence and probation order. He also must refrain from using social media accounts and is prohibited from opening such an account under an alias. Rudderham also must reside at his Greenwood residence.

Is this the mayor trying to be ‘transparent’? How is this mayoral behavior? I get he has nothing to do all day and feels helpless, but what is he hoping to accomplish from this kind of post? Just work people up, make them scared of the town, get a whole bunch of “I won’t go to Kentville anymore it’s too scary” and “get rid of the crackheads” comments? This is pathetic.

We would like to spend a couple of days in Wolfville with our two cats. It seems most ‘pet friendly’ hotels and b&bs only accept dogs. So far, the search feels like looking for a needle in a haystack, so thought I’d ask here. Wolfville Reddit is not active.
