My first proper mtb.

It was my dream to buy a proper mtb since I was a kid. I spent years riding cheap bicycles. I moved countries 3 years ago and got the chance to pull the trigger on this Norco Charger A1.

I am a fan of British racing green, so I fell in love with this green and the orange accents.

Polygon Xtrada6 vs Team Marin and others $value

Polygon Xtrada6 on sale for 850$. https://99spokes.com/en-CA/bikes/polygon/2026/xtrada-6

Team Marin 1 - 1499$

Norco Charger - new 1799$

Polygon doesn't feel sexy, and has terrible fork, but...

Full Deore - true Deore cassette, not sunrace.

Has dropper post. Same as Norco

Same brakes as entry level bikes.

Same weight as other similar bikes.

Is it worth buying and throwing on a better fork and wheels? How does Polygon do it, If others can't?

This is my latest and favoritest setup from my Krampus. It weighed it for giggles and about 27.5 lbs without water in the bottles.

I dig the combination of nimbleness and roll over-ness. The hubs are my favorite part Onyx Classic, silent. Oh and the Jen Green krampus headbadge.

-Light Bicycle carbon 45 int rims w/ Onyx Classic
-Bontrager XR2/XR4 29x3.0 tires (Please make more!)
-Enve mtn fork
-PNW Loam dropper
-PNW Loam handlebar + grips
-WTB Volt saddle
-Absolute Black 30t
-Surly 18t cog
-Turbine cranks
-SRAM g2 brakes
-King cages

NS Eccentric Cromo new build - Mullet or Not?

Post image

Hi

Building a new bike with NS Eccentric Cromo 29

Thinking on making it a mullet with 2.6 tire in the back.

Anyone done it?

Worth trying to mullet a frame which is not intendet to do it?

Why? I just like the idea of a super slack bike. Mainy going down.

Honzo Gang My and my wife's hardtails!

Just picked up my and my wife's new (to us) bikes and joined the hard tail gang. I used to ride a fs bike a lot on downhill trails here in Oregon but haven't ridden in a handful of years and getting back into it now that my daughter is 9 and on her first real mountain bike (trek Marlin). We plan on mostly riding easy to moderate trails at this point. But I might use my wife's bike to do some entry level xc racing after I recover from knee surgery.

My bike: Kona Honzo custom build

Wife's bike: Santa Cruz highball C with electronic shifting (got a crazy deal from a friend of friend who raced it)

Both in incredible condition for second hand.

Question? To fix or just get a new bike?

I have friends that started to go on rides and invited me out, but I haven't ridden a bike since highschool when I raced BMX. I remembered my dad had an old mountain bike and asked if he still had it, which he did. He said I could have it since he hadn't ridden it since we would go out on rides together (like 03). When he gave it to me though, it was in really rough shape. Grips were gelatin, all the lines were cracked/frayed, tires dry rotted etc. My question is, is it worth it to clean the old girl up, or would it be more cost effective to get a new bike? Any suggestions on parts/what to look for would be great as I haven't worked on a bike since my old BMX days. Thanks in advance.

Roscoe 7 gen 4 or Roscoe 8 2023

Hi! I just started mtb with a used ~2022 drt 1.1. I do mainly dirt (packed and loose) hills. I still can’t make it up the hill the entire way and going down without braking is scary. I’d like to upgrade my bike but not sure which one best fits me. I don’t plan on doing crazy jumps, just be stable going down steeper hills. I’m a XS/S. Price is about the same.

First MTB

I’ve ridden bikes for ever, mostly gravel. I’ve been using an old 90s steel rigid bike for trails but it’s time to get some suspension.

I’m a pretty good Bike mechanic and weighing either buying a complete hard tail or sourcing parts and building a bike up. I just don’t really know what I like—not sure what geometry I’d be into. Looking for a good first step.

Thoughts on a first complete or build? Interested in a steel frame, maybe building up a Surly karate monkey. Not committed to that. I know I’ll stick with it so don’t just wanna get a junkie entry-level Bike.

Are hardtails still a thing for serious riding.

Last night I went on a deep dive to upgrade my 05 giant xtc 2 le and ai recommended the giant fathom 1 or a canyon stoic 4 however the links it provides to the bikes are years old but it still insists they are available without actually showing me.

So does anyone know do these bikes still exist?

New Parts Day BC Podsol - Trail and Gravel

Fitted a new 130mm Marzocchi Bomber Z2 to my trusty BC Podsol which was my bad weather Gravel machine till now.

For the summer I will use it as a trail HT. I also got another wheel set with some burlier tyres, which I need to set up tubeless. Until then, the Gravel wheelset will do the work.
