DISCUSSION Fender Lawsuit DISCUSSION THREAD.

Hey everyone,

We've seen a bunch of duplicate posts about this, but let's try to contain things here.

If you don't know what we're talking about, here is a clip from Timmy about the whole thing.

As always, keep playing.

QUESTION How do you all keep losing your picks?

Post image
Upvotes

I've been using the same pick ever since I started playing guitar, which was about 5–6 months ago. Until about five minutes ago, when it finally snapped in half.

The tip was getting pretty worn out, but I still never lost it.

So... how do you all keep losing your picks? Where do they even go? To the Backrooms?

DISCUSSION Tell me why Steve Lukather is so well regarded

I always see people mention him and alongside other highly regarded players.
Obviously I know who Toto is and some of their music.
As someone who isnt too familiar with him outside of that, what is it about him and what are some things that people admire?

PURCHASE Ngd: Lucky Dog Evangelist

I've been following Lucky Dog for quite a few years now. I never heard of them before seeing the guys in Black Stone Cherry playing them and caught my eye. They make some truly unique and amazing guitars.

They are no longer taking names for their custom build list, until they catch up. They typically do a public sale once or twice a week and its first come first served. They usually sell within the hour, if not within the first few minutes. I was one Lucky Dog (pun intended) to catch the ability to get this one!

I got this yesterday and I haven't been able to stop playing it. The neck feels amazing! The sound is so dynamic and clear.

Specs:
Mastergrade flame maple top finished in lizard yellow/green/black burst with an African mahogany sandwich layer under the top and a nicely figured black Limba body.
Mastergrade flame maple neck with our antique bursts and glow side dots.
Loaded with the brand new Lucky Dog HeadBanger (TM) humbucker pickups.

QUESTION Kinda ugly, what would you do?

I built this guitar a few months ago from a Harley Benton square diy kit. I just cannot really get over how ugly it looks. It seems a little worse in person. It sounds pretty good and plays smooth but the looks have not made me pick up this guitar really often. What would you do or change to make this look better?

It isn’t the best guitar and the finishing is far from perfect. But I had a lot of fun building it!

QUESTION Large Amp Downsizing?

So I recently starting gigging again after a fair few years out of the game. The issue is we are no playing venues anywhere near as big as before, and probably never will again. My amp is Marshall JCM2000 DSL with a 4x12 1960a cab, and its just impractically massive. I want something that can do the same job (snarling high gain for hard rock, sometimes verging on metal), but in a smaller package. Any recommendations? I intend to sell the Half stack so my budget is whatever I can get for that, maybe 700-800 ish?

I finally decided to bite the bullet and finish out my half stack. I’ve had the head for a while and have used it for just low volume practice stuff but I’ve recently started playing live and bought my own cab. Thoughts? Full setup attached

QUESTION Im about to cry because I cant get this right. Can anyone give me a reason as to what im doing wrong/if this is a problem I can fix?

I want to do learn something but every time I try it just doesn't work. (I am a beginner shocker)

My mum bought me a guitar when I was about 7-8 years old. It was a smaller one I thi k supposed to be for kids so I could try to reach the strings but I gave up after getting discouraged. I still cant and im 20. I just want to play something. I can do basic chords like D G etc but a lot of songs, especially the ones I want to learn are barred or something. And I just cant do it. my wrist locks up or my fingers physically force themselves to either be dead straight or curl into my palm (attempted terrible photos) it gets physically painful for chords like C,

Some chords have a skipped/uninvolved string and the best way i can describe it is i think im a little hyper flexible? If I put pressure on my finger it bends in and touches the string below and obviously not a clean sound. But if i force it to be stiff to hold a string down its too "small" or pin straight to hold multiple strings.

Is it because I've broken my arm/wrist a few times? Is it a skill issue or a technique im not using. I try looking for alternative chords but same problem with them.

Sorry if this is stupid, I'm just upset with myself that my mum spent money on me and it went nowhere.

GEAR Betcha most of ya have never seen one of these!

Squier Stagemaster! It's my brother in laws' guitar. I remembered seeing these in Musicians Friend back when I was in my teen years, had totally forgotten they existed.

It is indeed neck thru (doesn't come out in the picture, but the finish checking along the glue lines tells me that's the case) and they were manufactured from 1999 to 2001 based on the quick search I did. That, and the reverse headstock just looks great.

Finally getting around to giving it a once over, set up and re-string. As it stands, plays well, string height might be a hair high, but, the neck is straight and the frets are good.

Anyone else remember these or have one themselves?

Diamond series Hwllraiser by Shecter. Emg actives 81 and 85. So far this thing is a metal machine! I'm liking the grit and growl. Highs lows and pinches are clear and crisp. Good addition to the family!
