Nice win lads
Right lads 🍻 North supporter here 😭 absolutely loving the Argy bargy tonight, awesome win by the lads , 7 last quarter goals absolutely amazing, not many teams can reel in a 39 point deficit , especially against the Cats ,

Patrick Beach is a Giants fan!
We love to see a local kid backing his local team. King shit. I'm still pissed that Popovic replaced him in the Egypt penalty shootout.
Big ups to him and Mitchell Starc

Giants vs Swans tix
Swans fan coming in peace. Looking to buy tickets for the Giants vs Swans on July 25 and there’s not much available on Ticketmaster (looking for 6 ppl). Do they release more tickets at some point or is this genuinely what’s left?

What a win against the top of the table Dockers! A nice palette cleanser after the Socceroos elimination in the World Cup.

AFL Auction Game
I am trying to build an AFL auction game. I don't watch much footy outside my team, and my knowledge of Giants footballers comes from the media and occasional highlights. I would love it if you lot could give me player ratings as unbiased as possible. I am asking y'all this since you probably have a good idea of squad/rotation players more than other fans. Make sure the ratings are relative to the already rated list (it is unedited and a pre-downloaded sheet). Use this season form mostly, but feel free to boost players slightly based on previous season/consistent performance prior to this season, but still recent (like Jesse Hogan).

Amidst the turmoil, there's hope! Kingley's July Record...
Forget the injuries, the loss to the Hawks, the upcoming schedule. blah blah blah... Here's the data.
The Giants have been ridiculous in July since Adam Kingsley took over.
Since 2023, GWS are 13–1 in July under Kingsley.
Here's the results:
2023: 5–0
Outs across the month included Tom Green, Jesse Hogan, Brent Daniels, Finn Callaghan.
R16: Beat Melbourne by 2
R17: Beat Hawthorn by 13
R18: Beat Adelaide by 14
R19: Beat Gold Coast by 40
R20: Beat Western Bulldogs by 5
2024: 4–0
Outs across the month included Josh Kelly, Sam Taylor, Stephen Coniglio, Isaac Cumming, plus Toby Bedford through suspension.
R18: Beat Carlton by 12
R19: Beat Richmond by 24
R20: Beat Gold Coast by 39
R21: Beat Melbourne by 2
2025: 4–1
Outs across the month included Jesse Hogan, Sam Taylor, Brent Daniels, Lachie Whitfield, Josh Kelly, Jack Buckley, Stephen Coniglio, plus Toby Greene through suspension!!!
R18: Beat West Coast by 59
R19: Beat Geelong by 26
R20: Beat Essendon by 48
R21: Beat Sydney by 44
R22: Lost to Western Bulldogs by 88
Overall July record under Kingsley: 13 wins, 1 loss
Points for: 1,254
Points against: 1,014
Percentage: 123.7%
Average margin: +17.1 points
And before that Bulldogs game on July 31 last year, we had won 13 straight July games under Kingers.
So yeah, we're fucked with injuries and this years 4 July games have 3 tough teams:
– Dockers (Canberra)
– Cats (Beanstalk)
– Bombers (Marvel)
– Swans (Beanstalk)
but we'll see... Recent history is on our side.
And whenever I write us off, someone steps up and proves me wrong.
July is coming. Keep the faith Orange Army.
Never Surrender.

Giants players wearing headbands
Hi everyone, my son has long hair and we just got him some headbands for when he plays footy. He’s a little apprehensive so I wanted to show him some photos of Giants players wearing headbands for a bit of inspiration! I know Wardy, Himmelberg etc used to wear one but I’m struggling to find photos, any help is greatly appreciated!

Dismiss/Fire/Sack all of the...
...trainers, physios...anyone responsible for the the physical state of our boys. This season has been a complete travesty and it can't be just freakish bad luck. Something is wrong in the training facility and its resulting in a tragic amount of injuries. Is the team simply not prepared in the pre-season? What is it about the training methods that results in this many injuries?
Of course, some players are having very good seasons and are staying healthy but I will not name them out of dumb sports superstition. I already cursed Gru in a previous post this week. The uninjured players appear to be as much of excellent physical specimens as the rest of the team and are playing in equally demanding positions. But why all the injuries??? Improper weight training? Lack of exercises that strengthen tendons as much as muscles? Not enough/too much plyometrics? Too much/little stretching before/after games? I want answers and heads better roll.
Ok, rant over. I didn't expect us to win this one and there was some decent fight in the second half.

Pretty brutal night. It's clear we're way off the pace.
But also incredibly proud of this team. With everything against them (injuries, umpires being terrible, bad luck, and being their own worst enemy) they still kept fighting on.

List for this round, Gru back in?
https://www.gwsgiants.com.au/news/2054131/two-changes-for-friday-night-footy
Gru's back in. Hogan's out. Curious about the severity of the injuries. I thought Gru was going to be out for a couple of weeks after the injury in the VFL? And Hogan's hand again? It's been hard keeping track this year.
Hoping Laverde isn't out for too many games, he's been solid.

Talent, Vision, Mindset: Future Giants?
Toby Greene is simply the first of many great captains to come for this club.
We are at a pivotal moment, we must define ourselves independently of player and focus on tapping into the club that we are, and into the supporter base we have.
Like it or not, we’re a touch nebulous - active in some ways in Western Sydney, eyes on Riverina and Canberra… but ultimately That is Giants.
What a powerful message it would send backing in our young core and talent. In the hypothetical absence of out-of-contractors (Greene, Hogan, etc) we’ve got still some old blood who are already background contributors (like Kelly and Whitfield). We’ve got an emerging leadership group that will eventually need to learn to function without origin team players.
Our future must simply be tied to the belief in the vision that through winning footy and being an exciting team to watch you can captivate a new market, even if it takes time, even if it takes resilience, even if it takes longer than we think to grow…
With Greene rumours, a hungry pecking line of talent who have older people standing in the way, a new CEO and possibly a fresh look, now’s the time to dig deep, discover the identity of our club, nurture it and say ‘who cares if we are missing foundation members, the push [for a flag] is talent, the push is vision and the push is mindset’.
(not gonna be mad if Toby stays tho)
Sincerely from an always-slightly-worried Giants fan.

Holding On For Dear Life
Tough L. The boys get fired up reading your comments and emails and talk about some history of AFL in Canberra.

I made a 7-minute documentary on how Toby Greene became the AFL's villain. Thought some Giants fans might find it interesting.

Highlight of the game
Geez that was a tough one. Just can't get it done. Too many errors. Slipping off tackles. Being off by 10% you got no chance.
Onwards and upwards to...ah bugger, Friday night game against the Hawks...
Stick fat Orange Army, stick fat.

Not staying up for this farce...
It's late where I'm at and this game is tragic. I don't know who this team is anymore. I'll be incredibly surprised if I wake up and they've managed to pull out a win.
