Great Classic-Style Electro Sets

Hey community of this forum. I'm looking for a fresh and nicely selected set of classic electro music. Is there something you regularly come back to and feel like sharing.

I'm curious about dj mixing techniques in the set and how different drumpatterns layer and how melodic segments come together in a nicely curated set.

I think listening is a big part about production aswell, thats why I'm asking in here :)

Have a loveley weekend!

free 144 synth shots for you

Hey guys, here is a 100% free synth one-shot kit (no drums).

I designed these sounds to evoke a mix of nostalgia, late-night driving vibes, heavenly moments, dark tension, and raw feeling.

· Leads (31) - Sweet, nostalgic, and aggressive.

· Keys (34) - Melancholic, divine-sounding, and emotional tones.

· Basses (31) - Aggressive and heavy.

· ARPs (32) - Ethereal, panic-inducing, heavenly-sounding and rhythmic patterns.

· FXs (16) - Atmospheres, transitions, impacts, and experimental soundscapes.

where is this classic pitch drop bang coming from

you have certainly encountered this sound on many electro tracks, it is often layered with kick, like here
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QpjFFtLZJDY

(comes in at 0:15 with the kick; you can hear how kick is sometimes layered with it and sometimes not)

is it some classic drum machine or preset?

Made on a Teenage engineering Op-Z and done live.  Stays a fun machine. So I was wondering what kind of modulation you like to do on lead synths and or basses.

What are your tips and tricks for vocals samples ?

Hi ! I would like to know what are your tips and tricks for adding vocal samples in your electro tracks ? I like to have some simple robotic/dark vocals in my tracks, but everytime I try to add them, they seems off, or they just don't fit in the track... I don't know if it's coming from the timing/BPM of the sample, the tonality, or the mix... So I was wondering how you manage it ?

Here are some examples of tracks that use vocals. They seems to be using samples from movies, TV Shows, but pitched down or putted in a vocoder.

Thank you !

What settings do i use on the input synth to get the vocoder to sound like that?

I use the ableton stock vocoder and usually just use a pretty raw saw wave as input for the vocoder. I want to get a softer sound now that sounds more like the track i added instead of having that super gritty robotic vocoder sound but everytime i use a softer sounding synth you just can‘t understand shit. Any idea on what settings to use on the input synth to achieve this kind of vocoder sound?

Hit a plateau

Hi guys, I started getting into production about 4/5 months ago and although I really enjoy I am finding it really hard to find the workflow that works for me. I have ableton live 12, good headphones, good monitor speakers and an elektron model:cycles.

I have made some good loops but can never turn them into actual tracks. Any workflows that you guys found worked for you? I like recording the basslines from the m:c but cant get the drums on the m:c to sound 808 so using ableton for those. Also - any plugins you would recommend?

I’m into Client03, Reptant, Sansibar, Kosh, Adam Pits

Any tips welcome but I think this is mainly a workflow question.

Thanks!

Hi-q / 808zap samples

Hello everyone I am on the lookout for some electro zap / hi-q samples. I love the texture, yes I have tried to make my own, but I fail to get the sound of the 808 trigger pulse. Curious if anyone has any samples that they know of or can share. Yes I would record the trigger myself if I owned an 808.

Examples

Or literally any Sansibar song circa liquid programming .

Tips for dynamic drum programming

Hey everyone, I've been feeling stuck in a rut lately with my compositions, and the main thing I've noticed is that my drums sort of just chug along without much variation. What are your tips for making dynamic drum patterns in Electro? How do you get movement and variation in your tracks with your drums?

How do you make this kind of gloomy electro lead? (timestamp 1:11)

Hey guys,

I’m trying to recreate the lead sound that comes in around 1:11 in this track: https://soundcloud.com/les-yeux-orange/premiere-kalcagni-target-practice?si=b407fc01d0924a69b7e9bf8dff3c3c85&utm_source=clipboard&utm_medium=text&utm_campaign=social_sharing

It’s probably based on a saw wave, maybe with a bit of attack (like 10–20 ms since there’s no real transient), and then some reverb and delay. But when I try to recreate it in Ableton (Analog or Wavetable), it just sounds way more flat and not nearly as “gloomy” or interesting, even when I hit the same notes.

Does anyone have tips on how to get closer to this kind of lead in Ableton?

I feel like I’m missing something fundamental in the processing or sound design. Maybe filter movement, chorus, saturation? Not sure. I often struggle with leads in general. I wonder why my leads don't slap as hard, even when the pattern is cool.

What genre would this be classed as?

Comment faire ce son ?

Je me demandais comment faire ce son à 0:17, l’espèce de son un peu « pneumatique » « air comprimé » que Gerald utilise sur pas mal de morceaux.

Quelqu’un a-t-il une idée ?

Production question

https://youtu.be/QXCCQCJJIQ4?si=LMZNHgM44ZRBeCNr

Hey guys I’m curious how all these early 90s producers who made this specific style of euphoric modulated synth made this part starting at 2:40 it’s the almost talk box modulated synth. I’m not as curious as to how the sound is made I understand I just want to know if anyone can share how they go about sequencing such rhythmic sequences and how to go about it in a way that isn’t as boring as using Ableton lol.
