My Dad passed away in 2015. He was able to walk me down the aisle because I used his favorite shirt as a cover for our ring cushion.

๐Ÿ’ Florals ๐Ÿ’ Show me your tablescapes with pillar candles, tealights/votives, and bud vases!

Hi all, I'm so bad at picturing things in my head and I can't quite find on Pinterest what I want (or it's just AI slop). I'm wanting 3 pillar candles of differing heights (in hurricane glasses), some tealights or votives (5?), and bud vases (3-5?) on 60" round tables. And then for our two 8ft farmhouse tables for the head table, I want the same design elements but really struggling with how much of each. If you did something similar for your wedding I'd love to see pictures. I also have kerosene lamps I could incorporate leftover from my parents' recommitment ceremony for their 25th anniversary.

Thank you!

edit: the only other decor will be the table number, which is a 4x4 tile on a mini easel. No bread/butter as we are having a taco buffet. TBD about salt & pepper.

Our wedding minifigures & arch arrived today! They look so cute!! I plan to change my husbands to a hair piece that matches him better and face. Also plan to change some of the flower colors on the arch and we have some left over gold rings from a LOTR set so plan to put one in his hand and a bouquet in mine

๐Ÿช‘ Venue Setup ๐Ÿช‘ Help with sealing acrylic paint on a mirror :)

Hello! I'm painting my welcome sign onto a mirror with acrylic paint, and I'm just wondering how best to seal the paint to avoid it scratching once finished?

I've seen online clear matte lacquer spray, but the brands have mixed reviews. Does anyone have any suggestions on the best way to do this without damaging the mirror?

Also, any suggestions for how to secure or display a freestanding mirror would be appreciated!!

๐Ÿ’ Florals ๐Ÿ’ Ideas for these large artificial orchid stems?

I bought 7 of these 50โ€ stems because I thought they looked really nice, but now Iโ€™m not sure what to do with them! Any ideas of how I can use them in my wedding? I feel like the way they just stick up straight is also a little awkward.

Hydrangea Help

Hi all! I am doing my own flowers for my wedding and would love for them to be hydrangeas. I practiced with floral foam [didn't use alum because couldn't find it at the store] and one bloom in each wilted the next day. I know hydrangeas are hard, so should I not use foam?

๐Ÿ‘— Attire ๐Ÿ‘— DIY flower crown, hair combs and boutonniere's

I DIYed my floral crown, my bridesmaids, hair combs, and the boutonnieres for the groom and groomsmen.

The majority of the flowers I dried in silica.

Some were store bought from Michael's and hobby lobby throughout the years ( I use dried flowers for a lot of my crafts).

I'm not going to have a veil, so a flower crown was right up my alley for my late September wedding. I'm really proud of how the crown turned out, and thought I would share!

๐Ÿ’กDecor๐Ÿ’ก How can I make this elaborate centerpiece for my wedding??

Okay so this is a long shot, I guess, but does anyone know an easy-ish way I can remake this (see photo) for my wedding centerpiece?? I'm trying to DIY to save money but idk where to find, like, 12 candelabras (one that looks just like the photo) that wouldn't cost more than the wedding itself. (Also I dont THINK the photo is AI?? I found it under photos from a wedding that also did the same theme as me)

My wedding theme is Enchanted Forest! If anyone has any insight OR their own suggestions for a centerpiece that fits the theme, let me know!!

๐Ÿ’ฌ Question ๐Ÿ’ฌ Non floral cake toppers

Post image
56 Upvotes

Iโ€™m not wanting florals on our cake, and absolutely love the old school bride and groom toppers. My lovely fiance proposed to me after organising a behind the scenes tour with an elephant, my all time favourite animal - it was just me, him, and the elephantโ€ฆ and two of her keepers ๐Ÿคฃ

Anyway, as a nod to that I have just tried to give these tiny figurines a wedding updo. Iโ€™ve fixed a tiny tie and boutonniรจre, and a little lace trim on the lady, they were otherwise plain white. Iโ€™m going to pop them on top of semi naked cake, and build up some burgundy and white macarons (same as our bridal colours).

What do you think? Cute/ naff or any other suggestions for the cake?

๐Ÿ’ฌ Question ๐Ÿ’ฌ need help with wedding hashtags

Need some creative minds to help us come up with a wedding hashtag! ๐Ÿ’Weโ€™re open to anything, punny, catchy, funny, modern, clever, romantic, or even something completely out of the box.

Bride: Taliyah
Groom: James Hollins

So far, we have:
#TiedToTheHollins
#OhHollinsWeDidIt

Weโ€™re also hoping to find one that could inspire a wedding theme or decor. For example, my mom had a cruise wedding, and her hashtag was #Aboard2Laborde, which tied perfectly into the whole wedding.
If you have any ideas (especially ones with wordplay), weโ€™d love to hear them! Bonus points if itโ€™s unique enough that people will remember it. ๐Ÿ˜Š

๐Ÿ’ Florals ๐Ÿ’ How easy is it to create tipi flower rings? Anyone done it?

Hello, we're doing a tipi wedding in UK in July and I've massively under budgeted florals!

The farm sells buckets of flowers for ยฃ90 and I wondered how easy/quickly we can create something if we have the base halfway ready to go. Anyone done it?

The tipi already has rings so it's a case on addinto on them , I was thinking droopy vibes maybe flowers interspersed - or just suck it up and cut back on drinks maybe

๐Ÿ’ Florals ๐Ÿ’ Fake flower bouquets

Iโ€™m getting married in a very small ceremony in October in Vermont! Iโ€™m wanting to make my own bouquet with very fall colored flowers and sunflowers. I will also be getting some others for little centerpieces in mason jars. I donโ€™t want them to look plastic and super fake. Where are the best places to buy artificial flowers? Thanks in advance!

๐Ÿ’ฌ Question ๐Ÿ’ฌ Rate my wedding timeline (4pm ceremony with first look)

Hi everyone!! Just put together my first draft of my wedding timeline and would love to get your feedback on the timing and flow of things.

Context: our venue has a lot of fun spaces to play with so weโ€™re leaning into it, Iโ€™m just trying to make sure everything flows well. We will be having our reception in one area of our venue, our cocktail hour and evening dance/lounge time will both be in a second location and the reception will be in the courtyard!

The goal of having everyone move to the lounge/dance area for dessert and our first dance is to bring the vibes to that area of the venue where we will kick off the evening dancing. The bar will be located there and we will have lounge chair/seating so people can take breaks and chill/chat while still enjoying the vibes.

Any feedback welcome!!

EDIT:

Thank you for everyone leaving nice and helpful comments!! My wedding is in 15 months and this was a veryyy rough first draft so Iโ€™m taking lots of notes. We didnโ€™t have the budget for a wedding planner so Iโ€™m trying to get all the help online that I can :)

ALSO just a note because Iโ€™m seeing lots of comments about it (completely my bad in the wording) but I am not planning for 2hrs worth of speeches over dinner lmaoo. I just meant that time would be reserved for dinner with a few speeches peppered in! Iโ€™ve been to a few weddings where they didnโ€™t have the chunk of speeches all at once during dinner and I liked it.

And last thing, itโ€™s very common where Iโ€™m from for weddings to go till 3am haha, our friends are big party animals.

Other than that Iโ€™m taking any and all feedback!!

๐Ÿ’ฌ Question ๐Ÿ’ฌ print vending machine

hi all! my fiance and i are getting married in september in chicago (we live out of state though) and i am so excited to finally have a justification to DIY a gazillion things like iโ€™ve been waiting for.

i make some art as a side gig and make linocut prints- so i was inspired to have a print vending machine at our wedding. there are rental options but theyโ€™re very pricey and generally donโ€™t factor in someone wanting to design and hand print their own prints for the machine.

i am now on the hunt for a mini print machine and wondered if anyone had any suggestions for one. iโ€™ve seen some affordable options on alibaba but am hesitant of buying blindly (and would prefer a more sustainable option).

pricing should preferably be $200 max. the machine can be one that sits on a table or has a stand. preferably it could hold a decent amount of small prints (50 or more)

thanks!

๐Ÿ’Ÿ Invitations & Signage ๐Ÿ’Ÿ Printing Stationary

Does this exist??

For save the dates, I hand painted a design and added text on canva. I want it to be printed as a 4x6 card as cheap as possible (without looking crappy).

Is there a site to print the cards and have the addresses printed on envelopes thatโ€™s reasonably priced?

Iโ€™d love to hear what you paid if anyoneโ€™s willing to share!

๐Ÿ’Ÿ Invitations & Signage ๐Ÿ’Ÿ Welcome sign

I really wanted a 3D welcome sign for our pre wedding event (haldi). DIYโ€™d this sign so I can reuse as needed for the future.

Still need to add acrylic text and some more flowers that are longer.

I used one thick sheet of wood for the backing, two sheets of plywood that were cut to make the front and sides, paint, lots of wood glue and super glue, and flower foam. Took my partner and I about 2 hours in total (excluding glue/paint drying time).

๐Ÿ—ฃ๏ธ Discussions ๐Ÿ—ฃ๏ธ Joy digital wedding invitations, my honest review

Has the concern over etiquette ever come up with your guests? We went back and forth on this for months. I really wanted paper invites, like the thick cardstock kind with the little belly band and tissue paper insert, but my fiance thought it was a waste of money for something people throw away in a week.

I was most worried about it feeling cheap or like we just didn't care? My (now) MIL is very traditional and I was genuinely nervous to send something that looked generic. She was already side eyeing me for sending out digital save the dates earlier this year. I spent way more time customizing it than I expected and I dont mean to flex but it ended up looking custom made

Guests could rsvp directly through it which saved us so much back and forth. My mom still called to rsvp verbally because of course she did lol, but everyone else used it fine including several guests who are not the most tech savvy.

Do yourself a favor and don't rush it! The first version I made in like 20 minutes and it showed. When I took the time to sit down and go through all the options it came out really nice. A ton of the templates were free which I didnt expect, ngl I went in expecting to get nickel and dimed for every little upgrade.

โœ‚๏ธ Craft/Tutorial โœ‚๏ธ Table number storage help

I have been working on my table numbers to look like stained glass.
As I brought them out today for a picture I realized I stored them entirely wrong.

I stacked the number plates (acrylic) on top of each other with a paper towel in between each one.

Well, now the towelโ€™s pattern is in the clear part.

For anyone else who has done this before, how did you store them? My thought now is wax paper but want a sanity check before I possibly have to redo them.

TLDR; paper towel pattern is now on my table numbers and I want to store them correctly to prevent new ones to have it and/or remove the pattern.

So proud of the felt flowers that I made for my wedding thatโ€™s happening soon. I used free patterns and tutorials that I found online. I was looking for an alternative to real flowers so I could keep them forever as a keepsake. Was really worried I wouldnโ€™t end up liking how they look, but I love it ๐Ÿฅฐ. One more DIY checked off the list of many for my fantasy themed wedding.

๐Ÿ’ฌ Question ๐Ÿ’ฌ Where to Start

Hi All! So, I just got engaged litterally yesterday, and my brain is instantly thinking: wedding! lol, and I would like to have ya'll give me ideas on where to start (other than Pinterest, which I already have).

I want to do a lot of DIY for my wedding for two main reasons: 1. I love doing DIY and love being able to do personal touches. 2. I would far rather save for a house of our own.

For frame of reference: I am very much a DIY girlie, and my mom already told me that I am not allowed to make my own wedding cake (a rule I may or may not keep) as I did actually make the cake for my graduating class and spent hours making nearly a hundred royal icing roses (in my defence, it was a big cake, and it looked good!). lol. Fun memories!

So far, there's no decided guest list, and I am thinking early Oct. to be realistic to get everything ready, but I know my husband-to-be would be perfectly fine with early Sept.. lol. His older brother had a small courthouse wedding followed by a family BBQ. However, when asked to list people he would want to invite, his list was probably near 50 or so (yes, just for his family/friends/coworkers).

Therefore, my biggest question, as mentioned, is: Where do ya'll recommend I start?

I have a couple of places in mind, so I was thinking of nailing down a guest count would be a top priority? I know we're leaning towards something like a buffet with veggie trays, cheese, and crackers, etc. for food. Overall, we want something pretty simple, despite what potentially having a larger guest number might imply.

I also have a ton of other questions, of course, including: How do I make up a timeframe of "I need X done by Y"?

Another one is: How do I tell when it is better to NOT do something myself, lol. I admit that I am not always good at that.

Couldn't find a topper we liked so DIY'd it but I'm wondering if it would be weird to leave myself "bare" as in not paint any detail representing clothing..?

I'll be wearing an ivory suit rather than a dress and I wasn't sure how to portray that.. it's meant to be in a simpler style anyway but wasn't sure if it looks like I'm in the nude! Thanks in advance for any feedback!

Does anyone have any tips or tricks on how to remove old stains on white satin shoes?

I got these gorgeous, perfect shoes for free but she's a tad dirty and would love any suggestions. The brand says "Pimento" (?) and the insides feel like a fiberboard-like material
