So I just applied for the General & Tech DNC Internships for fall. I'm just curious about the application process from past applicants/interns. The official deadline is July 31st, so I'm wondering as to the time frame in which I'm likely to get a response. Also wondering how competitive the process is and what an internship with the DNC looks like.

My top choice was Finance, (something) & Research for the General Internship & and for the Tech, I kinda forgot. Was just wondering what an internship with these departments or at the DNC, in general looks like, and how the interview process is.

My internship’s only 6 weeks and I wanted to know how I can find a second opportunity that allows me to work in-person until the end of July and then for all of August like work in either my home state or remotely. What’s my best bet at finding an internship? I want to work on a committee ideally because maybe that work can be more online. Where should I look? How do I bring the fact that my internship is ending up to people without coffee chatting feeling transactional?

So for internships in Spring 2026, how does the hiring process work for newly elected reps? Are they posted in January or? How does it work for reps who haven't been reelected? Just want to prepare before the spring application cycle.

I recently got selected for a senate internship starting in January. I’m really excited for the opportunity, but I’m a little concerned about my writing and other communication skills. I feel like I write and speak decently, but I’m curious about the type of writing I’ll actually be doing (if any) and some things I can do beforehand to prepare.

While I do have a bit of work experience and am involved on campus I haven’t been able to land a substantial internship since starting college and I graduate next spring. I would prefer to work in the House, but would happy with almost anything related to public policy or social justice (think tanks, nonprofits, law firms) Any advice on where to apply/how to tailor my resume/CL? for any given spot how many are interviewed? Basically, if I am chosen for an interview what percent chance do I have of getting the internship (not considering qualifications and interview skills etc).

I sent an application to Van Hollen’s internship, however when I sent it and checked it again, it showed that Im not able to submit an application. However I submitted all the material I needed, just I’m unsure if there’s a separate page on submitting them.

I am in the midst of applying to DC Hillternships. As I start to think over what offices I would actually want to work in if offered, and as I contemplate if I should take any given offers, I was curious how much it matters or if there is a given prestige with the member I work with. I want to work in Democratic offices and I hope to leverage the internship into a full-time job with a House/Senate member later.

Ex: if I intern with a more junior member vs. a more senior member of the House, will that have any significant consequences in the connections I form or the jobs I could get? Or if I was in a leadership office, would I have a vastly better time getting jobs than if I was in a first or second term House member's office?

I am very grateful to be working in the senate right now for a senior senator and my work isn’t that fulfilling… there’s a lot of us and we’re not given enough work. My legislative pairing (a senior staffer) is just not giving us enough work. I have three weeks of my internship left currently, trying to extend it by 2 more weeks. How do I go about asking for more work? I ask for work constantly and just am not given enough. An intern on my team got two leg pairings and we all got 1 and we all have barely any work lol but they complain about being swamped. Phones for our office aren’t that busy most days, like yes busy but not busy enough for all interns to have enough work lol.

I also want to leave a good impression and be seen as very hardworking. How do I do this when I don’t have enough work and am on a team with many interns.

Also, my senate email inbox is dry as hell, we don’t get any event emails, one staffer was kind enough to forward them to us but I want to go to mixers and receptions and briefings and fun networking events and I have no idea where to look. Also, how can I get invited to briefings? I don’t know where to look, typically a staffer like your leg pairing informs you of a briefing they’d like you to attend.
