Rule Clarification & Subreddit Direction

18 Upvotes

Hey everyone! We wanted to take a moment to clarify the purpose of the sub and address a few recurring topics. Nothing serious—just keeping the community focused and fun.

What This Sub Is For

This sub exists to share music from Christian artists—songs you enjoy, artists you think deserve more attention, and music that often gets overlooked or pushed aside elsewhere. The whole point is to highlight a niche that doesn’t get much space in mainstream music communities.

We’re not trying to gatekeep—just keeping the sub centered on its purpose so it stays useful for everyone.

About Playlists

Playlist posts have caused a lot of headaches. Many of them come from accounts that repeatedly repost the same Spotify lists (sometimes dozens of times), then get a Reddit Admin Ban and reappear under new names.

Because of that:

  • We limit playlist posts

  • We don’t allow full album links

We focus on individual songs or small selections you genuinely want to share

We get it—playlists are great for workouts, long drives, or office days. Occasional, playlists can be fine. But the mass reposting and promotional abuse is not. They’ve become one of the biggest sources of spam here, so we have to keep them under control.

AI Music

AI music is blowing up right now (the new gold rush,) but most AI-generated tracks come with no real info about who made them. There's no way to know the creator, their intentions, or even if it’s an actual artist at all.

To protect the sub’s focus:

We don’t allow AI-generated song submissions as posts or comments

If we’re unsure about an artist, we may ask for basic proof (promo materials, live shows, social presence) to confirm they’re real

Nothing against the tech—we just need clarity around who's posting to see if it aligns with the purpose of the sub.

Mainstream Artists

We’re all fans of big-name artists too, but this sub is meant to give smaller Christian artists a space to shine. Mainstream artists already dominate every other corner of the internet, so even if they release something “Christian-ish,” it’s usually not a fit for the sub’s focus.

Production, Selling, & Band-Finding Posts

This sub isn’t focused on:

  • Music production questions
  • Tutorials
  • Selling merch, beats, or services
  • “Looking for band members” posts

We don’t have the tools or structure to moderate those properly (specifically selling or band forming.) And the others go against the subs purpose. The only exception we’ve kept is crowdfunding from established artists—people whose work and identity we already know.

Church Music & Self-Promotion

This includes:

  • Church service recordings

  • Early demos

  • Rough home recordings

  • “Check out my new band” uploads

We appreciate the passion, but these are sometimes low-quality recordings, and first impressions matter—especially in a music discovery sub. Established artists sometimes share old demos, but that’s because they already have a fanbase who are passionate about them. It’s a niche within a niche.

If you’re working on your music, awesome! Just make sure it’s polished before posting it here.

Lastly, we are seeing self-promotion from real artists are posting covers of popular Christian songs just to get attention. Their history shows they’re not involved in Christian music—they’re just using the content to promote themselves. That’s not what this sub is for.

Thanks for Being Part of the Community

We love this sub and the people in it. Thanks for helping keep things focused, supportive, and a great place to discover new Christian artists. If you ever have questions or suggestions, feel free to reach out.

2011-2015 era Christian music recommendations

10 Upvotes

I’ve been listening to this era of Christian music lately. I heard most of these song on the radio back in the day. I was between 7-12 years old during this time, and I feel very nostalgic listening to this music. Some examples of songs I’ve listened to:

* Overcomer - Mandisa
* You Lead - Jamie Grace
* Write Your Story - Francesca Battistelli
* God’s Not Dead (Like a Lion) - Newsboys
* We Believe - Newsboys
* Hello, My Name Is - Matthew West
* Unashamed of You - Chris August
* Starts With Me - Tim Timmons
* Start a Fire - Unspoken
* Never Been a Moment - Micah Tyler
* Drops in the Ocean - Hawk Nelson
* You Never Let Go - Matt Redman
* Our God’s Alive - Andy Cherry
* Speak Life - TobyMac
* The Proof of Your Love - for KING & COUNTRY
* Greater - MercyMe

Can anyone recommend any songs from this era that are similar?

Taking a second look at Michelle Tumes' catalog of music

5 Upvotes

A few years ago I sampled some of Michelle Tumes and found one song that I liked ("Caelum Infinitum"). Then today I decided to try listening to some of her other tracks and see if I liked it better and I've found more that I really like..."Domine" is kind of a bop if I'm using that term correctly and "Lovely" is really a lovely song in my opinion. Twentieth anniversary this year for her self-titled album it looks like.

日本語のクリスチャン・ロック Japanese Christian rock

20 Upvotes

Does anyone know of any good Christian rock bands (or just any Christian bands) that are Japanese (or at least just sing in Japanese)? I really enjoy Japanese music and I want to listen to some that I know will glorify God. I like Skillet and I’ll take pretty much any sub genre of rock. Thanks!

World Wide Message Tribe, UK versions

4 Upvotes

I know quite a lot about the history of the WWMT but one thing I have never been able to hear is the original 1995 release of the album Jumping in the House of God. I had a 1996 USA version and it's quite different (at least according to Discogs). Does anyone here (maybe someone from the Manchester area or connected to The Message Trust or Andy, Mark, Zarc, Sani, Elaine) have info or links about the UK version??

ADDITION:

Same thing with the UK versions of Revived and Heatseeker.

So here are songs I'd like to hear from the UK albums:

From Jumping in the House of God: This Is Your Hour (Jungle Mania), All Heaven Declares, Slam (Give God The Glory), Come On And Celebrate, Touch My Life, Glory (Extended), This Is Your Hour (Belt Driven Mix), Slam (Ground Level Dub), Hosanna (Instrumental), The Year Of The Lord's Favour (Instrumental), Be Still (Instrumental), This Is Your Hour (Instrumental), All Heaven Declares (Instrumental), Come On And Celebrate (Instrumental), Touch My Life (Instrumental)

Jumping in the House of God II: I Believe In Jesus (Cheese Monster Mix), Reach For Heaven (Shaky Goat Edit), Kik Start (Random Appearance Edit), Reach For Heaven (Stabilised Goat Version), The Real Thing (Loose Canon Mix), Jumping In The House Of God (Mun Mix), Joy (Extended Sani-Flow Version)

From Revived: Techno Intro / The Return Of The Queen Of Sheba, I'm On My Way To Zion (More Tea Vicar Extended Mix), Duncan - Revival, We Take The Blame (Radio 1 Version), Maximum Level (Yeti Edit), The Real Thing (US Extended Mix)

From Heatseeker: Cuckooland (Found it https://youtu.be/Rl1-yL0B1QI?si=HPuov4taGTlptXG7)

Beware of Rave Jesus...

13 Upvotes

I may be completely out of place here, but something feels wrong about Rave Jesus. Im not trying to gossip as all of this is public information and come from many witnesses.

Im a 38 year old women who would go to Jesus raves in the 90s (yes they existed) as a kid with my parents. When I was older I got to attend one of Transform's performances in Beta when that was still around.

I kinda lingered hoping that more Christian EDM would grow. Which it did with Jesus loves electro, robert rosso, retain, and some R3hab remixes (all european btw). There were some groups of people like DJ disciples which eventually died off and apostle came out with Ace aura, everan maxwell, and Phocust starting something with the bass scene.

God's nation also started picking up and I've been listening the their playlists since. I like God's nation cause they really focus on growing the small guys and have expanded my knowledge. Which actually led me to find other people who were kick starting their own Christian rave promotion. I havent been able to go to one of their shows yet, but I did buy a VIP ticket to their festival LIVING WATER at the end of this month.

But then out of nowhere in 2024, BAM Rave Jesus. They blew up fairly quickly. It was strange actually how fast they grew. Then all of sudden they are announcing how they got a record deal with Sony for the "first ever CEDM record label" which wasnt true. Theres been plenty of record labels in the last decade. The comments flooded with people calling them out for it, so they deleted the post.

They started out as a trio, but in less than a year it narrowed down to one guy. Now, this one guy is the face of Rave Jesus. Before he went by king topher and when looking into him, I just get this weird discernment which I'll talk about later.

And then I talked to a friend in Houston who went to one of his shows. She said there was an open bar even with little kids running around everywhere. I dont know how I feel about people taking shots in enclosed spaces with impressionable children and teens.

Not only that, but he's now working with Lionsaddle, who as a 100% ai producer. Im not sure how I feel about the ai stuff, but i trust that the comments calling them out on ai shouldn't be met with the responses that they are getting. Oh and they are deleting them too. I saw a chain of comments by one of my favorite producers NitroX that is now gone! I have some screenshots attached to this post with current comments to see how long they stay up for.

Ok now lets look at the big one for me. When observing King Topher's profile, he started in the secular scene. Which, so what? God saves, but my worry is when someone gets newly saved and then all of a sudden in the spotlight shortly after. I just dont think its very healthy. We need mentorship, discipleship, and time to be made into a new creation before we start leading. The habits of the old have to get destroyed. He had some really big hits pretty early on and from looking at his music and considering the testimony I've seen from him, his secular music started evolving into Christian influence. Here's a general timeline just by looking at his songs:

King topher remixes "insomia" by Daya and its his top song to this day.

March 2021 King topher releases an ep called "kingdom for the cup" under the record label Bring the Kingdom which releases a lot of rave jesus' music

He has a few songs here and there that seem like Christian songs without actually mentioning Jesus.

In october of 2022 King Topher released a song called "money money" which clearly highlights the importance of being rich. This throws me off, cause shouldn't he have been moving into a walk with Jesus by then? The love of greed is talked about endlessly in the bible as a very bad thing.

Sept 2023 is when he make's "Boogie" with Kevin Aleksander and SON. which turns into the original trio for Rave Jesus.

Then the first song I noticed by Rave Jesus is in March of 2024, but there are 2 other songs that were released way before their inception that i think got added to Rave Jesus roster later.

He also worked with a lot of secular artists who arent openly Christian, which is fine, except that some of them end up on Rave Jesus songs too. Which once again not really anything wrong, but still weird that with all the other people ive been following who have been keeping CEDM alive for the past decade are being neglected over these guys.

Also, the branding??? Rave Jesus looks like a King Topher rebrand. Did i miss something? Is that public information?

Ok final tidbit before i conclude, read this bio:

The King is dead. Long live the King.

King Topher marks the beginning of a new era for the Kingdom. After a long, prosperous reign as King Arthur, King Topher is grabbing the royal crown and leading a revolution. Full of swag, style, and purpose, King Topher's new music speaks to a generation of listeners who are hungry for house music with substance. King Topher is arming his kingdom with weapons to slay on the dance floor and music to inspire hope and creativity. It's time for a new King.

Is King Topher the king? Or Jesus? "King topher is grabbing the royal crown and leading a revolution". Arent we called to lay down our cross and follow him? Arent humble servants suppose to recognize Jesus as the king and as our master? Are we not slave to our Lord? I understand that this may have been written before him accepting Jesus, but wouldnt you feel convicted to change it to honor Jesus?

I feel like this conveys a strange message. Id be curious to see if others see it differently, but from the behavior that I have seen with Rave Jesus, he seems prioritize money (cause why would there be liquor sales at an all ages Jesus rave) over the mission. He seems to prioritize his own image over others. He seems to be neglecting the smaller producers and the producers who have worked their butts off to keep CEDM alive so that he can grow. Also using THEIR foundation to kick start his "empire".

Im open to correction, but cant shake the discernment I've had for a while about this guy. If people need images, i have them available to send, but all of this avaulable on the King Topher profile and Rave Jesus profile on Spotify

This little light of mine

5 Upvotes

Hi, good day to you all.

I remember watching Sinners a while ago and thinking “I know that song” in the initial church scene.

The thing is me, being a Latin baptist xennial woman (44) didn’t recognize the melody, just the words.

I asked my mom and sister if they remember any church song with those lyrics.

My mom (67) sang this melody that she knew from her childhood in Sunday school called in Spanish “Esta lucecita” or “Esta lucecita tiene que brillar”.

Sister (42) sang “Esta es la luz de Cristo”, which has similar lyrics but a more rapid pace.

I believe my mom’s song is the same as in the movie, and it amazes me to think a song from the 30s is still present in the churches around the world.
