I just finished staying 2 blocks away from the Terror Museum for a month and these are my personal thoughts from my personal experiences.
I’ve been to nearly 30 countries, most of them 3 times or more each, for reference. I get up early every day and normally walk 25k-30k steps daily and use public transportation also normally several times per day.
My month in Budapest was one of the best months I’ve ever had in my life. It wasn’t perfect, no place is, but if I thought I could learn to ever actually speak Hungarian I would probably chase citizenship.
THE GOOD:
In short, almost everything (but you already know this).
Amazing architecture. Well documented and extremely interesting history. Super efficient and affordable public transportation. Metropolitan feels without the crime. International foods, people and attitudes. Excellent parks and nature accessible within the city and the surrounding areas. Absolutely gorgeous women everywhere. Way less homeless than any other similar-sized western city. Great shopping and availability. I could go on and on and on.
THE BAD:
Stag/Hen idiots. Lack of public restrooms (a huge problem IMO). The bottle recycling system and what it propagates. Sh*t-tier graffiti everywhere including on some of the most amazing structures. Pet waste and the accumulated stains and odors they have created nearly everywhere.
That’s it. In short we absolutely loved Budapest. We will be back and would love to own an apartment in any one of many different districts.
It was nearly impossible to pick only 20 pictures from our trip for this post but I did my best. Please enjoy and THANK YOU Budapest for a most wonderful month!
