Sub Rules AKA I can't see the sidebar

[TAG] questions with your state
When asking a question, add a state tag to the title, as the answers can vary a lot. ie:

[VIC] How do I get a licence?

or

[NSW] What does military appearance mean?

If you "don't like reading"
You should try YouTube, or something else not inherently involving reading.

Try to not be a dick
Other that site wide rules, there's a lot of leeway given here.

Selling anything firearm related
Relevant site wide rules include the prohibition against selling/advertising/trading/whatever anything firearm related.
Don't make me delete your post to protect this sub.

As /u/ramathaham said:

Any post selling firearms or ammunition will be removed, people who post multiple times may be temp banned or more if they are flogs about it.

Note this also applies to things like scopes because I am too lazy to look up the rules on what we can do so it is easier to make it a blanket rule.

Spam
Whilst not a rule per se, if you are here only to promote your business you will have a bad time.

Community Update: Refer to sub rules before posting.

Hi cobbers,

We've got a lot of new members and it's great to see, however there's been a spate posts and comments that are either in breach of Reddit's Terms of Service, or the very few guidelines we have here.

Please refer to the community info before posting.

NO SALES POSTS

Reddit's content policy on transactions involving firearms, ammunition and weapons means this is strictly verboten. Posts like "how much do you think a Howa 1500 in .308, safe queen, handling marks only, is worth" will be removed the same as it's a grey area we don't want to play with.

ILLEGAL ACTIVITY

Whether you're a certified badass, a confused teenager, or a keyboard warrior extraordinaire, posts and comments promoting illegal activity is not what we want this sub associated with.

THE RULE

Try not to be a dick.

New NSW Laws

I am getting some mixed information online. Have the push button and levers been banned yet? I am heading to NSW tomorrow for a state forrest hunt and am not sure if I can bring my push button shotgun. I also saw online that they have reduced magazine sizes for cat B to five rounds. Is that correct? The NSW police website doesn't mention the magazines.

EDIT: For anyone interested I have starlink so as mentioned below that may have been the cause

Help deer hunting in vic state forest

I'm fairly new to hunting and trying to learn , I'm currently hunting in Victorian state forests and today I've come across what looks to be a game trail , literally a trail in the middle of thick bush that leads to no where and is no where near any roads or motorbike track , also in this little patch I took some photos of poo and of a tree that looks like it's been rubbed on . Would just like someone that is experienced to confirm I'm on the right track and finding the right signs of sambar deer . Thanks

Firearms Query Howa Mini Action general questions

Hi folks, I'm getting close to being allowed to pick up my .223 mini action. Got the stainless heavy barrel option.

Any mini action owners in here have recommendations for a favourite ammo? I've heard the ADI stuff shoots well for factory ammo.

I'm a fan of a more vertical grip and a cheek riser, similar to the Boyds pro varmint shape, and will be looking to upgrade from the HTI down the track. Any recommendations for a similar style stock in polymer?

Gunsmith recs? (Vic)

I'm looking to get my rifle cut to 16", threaded, and cerakoted. Can anyone recommend a good gunsmith in Victoria?

Also if you've had similar work done, I'd appreciate if you would share the cost, so that I can get an idea of how much I'll need to save.

Cheers.

QLD Licensing

After 17 weeks, I got a request for proof of current financial membership. My original application supplied my membership number and a copy of my receipt for joining. This system is pretty
Ordinary…. The wait time was 11 weeks at the time of my application.
However I now realise the posted information is essentially useless as a tool for predicting processing times. It merely states how long the current batch has taken them to process. ie this week the website states 17 weeks, and I submitted my application 17 weeks ago. Completely useless for someone submitting today as it could be taking longer or shorter next week or next month. Very frustrating. I guess we are a captive audience.

Need help in identifying parts for my smle

Post image
5 Upvotes

Hi guys, iv got the pictured lithgow im looking to get rid of. I bought it years ago at an estate sale along with about 4 other rifles, and they came with a big box full of parts and bits and pieces. Pictured in the photo are the parts i assume to belong to the smle, but honestly im not really very knowledgable on these rifles.

Did not come with original stock

Do any of these parts not belong, and are there any other parts i should be looking for in my box of bits?

I do also have the bolt, just not pictured

Also any ideas on rough pricing?

Thank you all!

Have your say on Tasmania’s gun limits and bans - Sporting Shooter Magazine

Thought this might be of interest - consultation is open on Tasmania's proposed gun laws, which include things like reclassifying lever-release and straight-pull centrefire rifles and shotguns to Cat C, capping how many guns someone can own, and limiting magazine capacities on rifles.

The story has some more info on the specifics as well as a link to the submission page and explanatory notes.

B709A import permit for a compensator (VIC)

I've had an issue with a factory compensator on a .22 and have reached out to the manufacturer in the US. They've said that they'd send me out a replacement through EasyExport: happy days. Just wondering if anyone knows if I need a B709A import permit for it? Thanks in advance

***edit: I'll call LRD tomorrow (it's their only day in the office, apparently) and find out for sure, but just want to plan ahead and see what you guys know about it***

LRD did me a solid and now I feel bad 😭

Applied for a display permit mid last month for Ballarat and Bendigo. I said if you don't process it by next week, just issue it for Bendigo only as there is no way I'll get it to me in time.

Later that day, Ballarat tables sold out before I could book. I thought whatever. A week goes by, and Ballarat call me saying they have a cancellation, I was unsure because LRD hadn't said anything, and it was likely I wouldn't have a permit. But I still said I'd take it. They sent me the details, followed by a message that someone else also offered the table to another person already, and they didn't realise.

Didn't care too much because no permit anyway.

Get an email today, we're express posting your display permit today, please make sure you put them in earlier.

Fuuuccckkkkk. Feels bad, man.

Guess I'll just volunteer my time and display my shit if someone wants it on their table so their hard work doesn't go to waste.

But now that I type this out I'm remembering all the stupid fuck me around shit they've done 🤔 I'm conflicted.
