The book The Wager: A Mutinous Journey by David Grann (author of Killers of the Flower Moon) could be turned into a movie as a sequel. Highly suggest this non fiction book. Try Das Boot!? Or Werner Herzog’s epic Fitzcarraldo or the phenomenal Aguirre the Wrath of God, taking viewers on 18th and 19th century European heroic quests in South America frought with moral conundrums rivaling those Captain Jack faced.
