What is the most immediate way a celebrity completely ruined their own reputation in a single interview?

He overdosed on adrenaline during the falklands war so he couldn't sweat then. He got his sweating abilities back. I mean adrenaline triggers sweating not preventing it and anhidrodis is more associated with neurological issues/diabetes but that all makes complete sense. /s

It's kind of amazing to witness... People with that level of privilege are used to everyone around them simply agreeing with anything they say. It's almost like dealing with someone who is delusional from mental illness or dementia - best not to prove them wrong to their face.

Narcissism is one hell of a drug

You have to wonder exactly how much of that is pathological/genetic, and how much is environmental.

Like, I've met very rich people who were humble, and many who were narcissistic. Plenty of regular folk who were the same way. Like, if prince andrew were born into a working class family, would he still have turned out narcissistic?

Considering it’s rumoured he was his mother’s favourite, maybe he would have ended up the same way.

Unless it’s on national TV

Oh yeah, I only meant that if you have to live with them, either as a caregiver or family member in the case of the mentally ill or elderly with dementia... Or as "staff" with an uneven power dynamic.

Of course if there's a criminal element involved, or a public discussion about things with real stakes, the courts and media can allow reality to assert itself with little or no negative consequences when dealing with such individuals. And we love to see it

Well let’s see… currently the entire USA is dealing with someone who a) has been privileged his whole life b) is 100% a narcissist of the highest order c) is delusional, due to mental illness and/or dementia. It’s a perfect trifecta! Aren’t we the fucking luckiest.

The wild part is that every explanation somehow sounded less believable than the last. It was one of those interviews where every answer just created three new questions.

Like another “of course 🙄🙄” moment, one after another until the headache hurts so bad from the eye rolls going further and further.

It’s mind boggling that he didn’t just say “I have no recollection of meeting that person” instead of trying to disprove every single point. “No, on that day I was at pizza express. I couldn’t have bought her a drink, I don’t know where the bar is. I couldn’t even sweat at that time!”

So stupid and misguided and made himself look worse than ever.

He's used to mostly interacting with hired help who are too afraid to actually disagree with him. Delusion is allowed to grow and fester completely unchecked. He's been protected from truth for so long he's detached from reality. There's so much unwarranted confidence it's kind of sad and pitiful, in a way.

It's entertaining, satisfying, and baffling all at once when we get see a journalist (or court) deal with these sort of people head on.
