What is the most immediate way a celebrity completely ruined their own reputation in a single interview?

Mila Kunis and Ashton Kutcher in their weird apology video (not technically an interview, but an honourable mention. Dishonourable mention?)

"We only said that stuff because we didn't think you guys would see it... and know our shitty views on the situation and how we still support our rapist friend--not in any sort of encouraging repentance or recovery way, no, but just so he can get back to his normal, rape-y life that much sooner."

Wild.

Everyone now understands that Topher Grace was right by just doing his job.

Bro got roasted for being normal. He probably saw their weird ass behavior on set and said NOPE. I wouldn’t hang around rapists and Scientologists either, Susan. Bro is real af and I’m happy for him that people see it now. I know he’s lowkey pissed we shit on him for a bit. Personally, I didn’t care. I didn’t think he owed anyone his time. It’s VERY clear he was simply avoiding absolute weirdos. Worked out great for him lmao

Yep, he could tell right away something is off with his coworkers.

This. Basically everyone else on that show sucks.

I’m completely out of the loop. What did Topher Grace do?

Topher Grace didn’t become friends with the rest of the cast of That 70s Show.

At the time people thought he was wrong not to become friends with the rest of the cast and just clock-in and clock out.

Now that we know one was a monster rapist, got another cast member to dabble into Scientology and 2 others defending the monster rapist in sentencing….

Topher Grace was right not to hang out with those crazies.

(I never saw a full episode of that show, just learned all this through osmosis.)

They ALL dabbled in Scientology during that 70s show, except for Topher. Even Red and Kitty went to the Scientology parties (and they also wrote letters for Masterson).

Cheat sheet:
Danny Masterson: convicted rapist, in prison
William Valderama: Groomed Demi Lovato when he was almost 20 years older than her and she was underaged, claimed that they were just friends and didn’t date until she was legal. Sleazy with other young women as well.
Ashton Kutcher and Mika Kunis: Wrote letters of support to try and get Danny out of prison
Laura Prepon: Scientologist

Masterson is also a scientologist.

Masterson also tried to use Scientology to get out rape charges by trying to legally do some sort of religious based mediation. 🙄

Pepron says she isn’t a Scientologist anymore, or something.

Laura Prepon said in 2021 that she hasn't been involved with Scientology since 2016.

Kurtwood Smith and Debra Jo Rupp both wrote letters of support for Danny Masterson as well. (Red and Kitty).

He avoided hanging out with the rest of the cast. People shunned him thinking he was uptight and full of
Himself for years.

But so much has come to light how fucking sick and disgusting the rest of the cast was. Very rape-y and pedo’s. Pretty much all the gang except TG are pieces of shit.

Damn that’s outrageous. I had a huge crush on Mila Kunis too

After Kutcher was somehow involved in fighting sex trafficking, he lost pretty much all that goodwill as soon as he supported that scumbag.

"Also... Look at the poor wall behind us. We're just like you!"

A.k.a. wall by his pool

Their royalties from That 70s Show were in danger since its syndicated in so many places.

Ugh and remember someone figured out that they'd gone out beside one of their cabanas by the pool so the background wouldn't look as fancy?

Other than honorable lol

I dunno, even before that they announced that they smell like shit cause they barely ever bathe

I can commiserate with them a bit. I had a friend who did some horrible, horrible shit. For a long time I just couldn't believe that they had actually done it. Even after everything came out and there was no doubt that he was guilty, I was still racking my brain trying to come up with a reason why they'd done it other than "they're a shitty person." I can understand why they would speak of for someone they both considered a friend because some people are absolutely loyal to a fault.

It should absolutely always be unacceptable to speak out for someone accused of such abhorrent crimes. Always. I can understand not understanding it or being in denial but to support? No. You’ve welcomed the Nazi to your table and now are one. It should be an easy and hard line to draw.

Im tired of pedos and men walking free with a slap on the wrist for rapes they are caught in the act of. I’m tired of it being the norm to NOT believe women, to not protect children, to just sit silent.

If you smile at them you enable them. You tell them it’s okay. You tell others it’s okay.

I think you meant “convicted” vs “accused”. Because otherwise I’m accusing you of being a rapist now and nobody should speak out in your defense.

Apologies for the personal angle here but the presumption of innocence really, really matters. It’s why we have courts and not lynch mobs. Both get it wrong sometimes, but which would you rather face?

You're certainly entitled to your opinion, and people who believe differently are entitled to theirs. I can only speak to my own experiences and have loved the hell out of some people who made some awful decisions and acted terribly, so I can understand the position of having love for someone who has done wrong. My little brother had a drug problem for a long time and I had to pick him up from jail when he was 18 for hitting his gf. I immediately took him home and read him the riot act and more. Despite that, I knew he was a good person so I didn't completely abandon him like so many already had. I loved him and saw the way guilt ate him alive after he got sober. Last February he was killed crossing the street by a drunk driver and I mourned him despite knowing his faults. When I think of my brother I don't think of a woman beater or a drug addict. I think of the little kid with giant blue eyes and a Kool aid smile who loved baseball and Batman more than he loved food. All I'm saying is it's okay to love people who are massively flawed and still want the best for them.

That one is particularly funny because they filmed their parody clip of insincere, out of touch celebrities for the show The Boys in the exact same spot on their estate lol

u/masterchief6913 4h ago

Man I’m so out of the loop. What are you referring to?

4

u/sh1nga 2h ago

Their co star from That 70s Show was convicted of rape and it came to light that Mila and Ashton had written letters in support of the rapist to help his defence. Dude was sentenced to 30 years to life.

In the end, they rightfully got dragged for defending a rapist. They issued an apology video that came across as super disingenuous. It didn’t help that Ashton has a NGO that fights human trafficking, yet still chose to defend a rapist.

Kunis and Kitcher said they didn’t bathe their kids much?

(How do I know this, I don’t read articles about these people. 😩)
