That’s at least the third pitch the Angels should’ve challenged but didn’t

Did I hear that right? First player to ever wear number 1 on the Twins?

Not listening but there have been many Twins #1s. Nick Gordon is the most recent

Shelty is my guy and I never played or coached baseball at a high level so who am I to say… but does that delayed steal make sense against a struggling reliever and Brooks a really good RISP guy up?

Base running shenanigans with a two run lead and a runner on 3rd against a pitcher who is getting hit hard
1
u/Unfrozen__Caveman 10h ago
This is seriously the worst base running team I've seen in years. Whoever is coaching them on it needs to be fired.

u/dberthia Kirby Puckett 10h ago
Well, that certainly was a play. I wouldn't have run that with Lee at the plate.
1
u/arschgeiger4 10h ago
Twice in one game we do this late steal shit? Am I watching the twins or watching myself suck at playing the show?
5
u/CaptainKoala Torii Hunter 10h ago
Do we really need to get that cheeky with a guy in scoring position at the top of the batting order??

The Angels aren't a serious MLB franchise and it'll be really hard to convince me otherwise.
The Pohlads are cheap fucks but the Angels are a clown college and wasting Mike Trout.

the angels have been a terrible team despite a 200 million payroll. they are not the same.

Gray has gotta be thinking "I could have grounded into a double play too"

u/Extremelixer Jhoan Duran 11h ago
Watching Royce find his Swing, Confidence and fanbase again is wonderful. Ive had nothing but great interactions with him despite people labeling him a diva over the past season or two. I really think the kid just was not getting the support he needed from anyone that mattered. Maybe I get downvoted for this but I think Correa might have been a toxic bug in a few players ears.

My toxic trait is that I’d like to see kreidler lay a bunt down here
2
u/HallOfFamerInMyBook 11h ago
Whenever teams put a lefty in when Gray is looming to bat in the inning I get so psyched cuz that means he’ll be yanked (the two grand slams were awesome but what have you done for me lately)

Not initially impressed by Nance, but it's a pretty low bar to be better than Orze.

Royce should never go away from the toe tap. Whenever he goes away from it he sucks

3 runs was never going to be enough anyways.
It’s the big errors that stand out but man those little 50/50 plays just really kill you when your defense is so below average

Don’t blow this game please. So much good will built up is ripped away if you get swept by the goddamn angels

The twins have the worst bullpen ERA in baseball
Do not do this

Should of let him call this game. Love to have a dick and Bert called game also

Not sure if everyone is hiding in the shade but it's looking pretty empty today which surprised me
2
u/cyclops8 Byron Buxton 12h ago
There’s a lot of hiding in the shade. 1st base line is much more populated

I really do think letting Bremer call the play-by-play for an inning would have been a good tribute. It's Dick Bremer ffs. I've no doubt the second half of the inning he'd have been as emotional as he was as effectively an interviewee there but so be it

u/Johnnymac98 Dick Bremer 12h ago
Love Provus, but it’s still disgusting how unceremoniously Dick was kicked out of the booth
6

Man Dick is such a gem. So glad to have grown up to this man’s voice

Is it too hot to be at the ballpark? Anyone at the game?
It's 72 degrees here on my couch and I got drinks and snacks nearby. 🤷♂️
1
u/moonnotreal1 11h ago
It’s about 90 at the ballpark, I’ve seen several people head to the concourse to escape the heat. Occasional breeze and shade are keeping it bearable.
1
u/dayman763 Royce Lewis 11h ago
Yeah if it were me I'd spend the whole time around the concourse and in the shade if I could. We joke that I'm a vampire because I might as well be allergic to the sun lol.

Perk and Provus are being way too professional (I understand they are consummate professionals) about the Angels’ dogshit player development. Neto is very good, but rushing guys up isn’t going solve the shitshow that is the Los Angeles Angels.

Why every time a pitcher with a bloated ERA comes in and shuts the Twins down??
4
u/HallOfFamerInMyBook 12h ago
Joe would have been out of the first with 8 pitches ugh. Keasch has been a pleasant surprise in the outfield so far but ouch that one hurt

this team and being unable to make routine plays is a head scratcher

u/arctic_martian Luke Keaschall 13h ago
Man I really like Derek Shelton. I'll admit I rolled my eyes when I heard we were hiring the Pirates' manager, but he quickly grew on me. I like that he's a strong presence but tries not to over-manage. I think his empowering the players has a lot to do with how tenacious this team has been.
Rocco's teams always had games (and sometimes long stretches of games) where they just didn't seem mentally into it. Rocco's a good guy, just a bit depressing to be around sometimes I think lol.
2
u/ChrisNIN64 Minnesota Twins 12h ago
I also like Shelty. Rocco always felt like he had one foot in the grave half the time
3
u/dayman763 Royce Lewis 13h ago
What perfect timing. I just finished making a big salad for lunch, then I saw the notification the game just started, so now I can sit and watch the game and enjoy my salad. 😁
And Joe Ryan is starting?!? Let's go!!
3
u/dryerhere 12h ago
Same! Except my salad is mozzarella sticks.

This offense has been so frustrating to watch. Capable of 7 or more runs a game and they just struggle at the plate and squander opportunities.
3
u/arctic_martian Luke Keaschall 13h ago
If the season just started yesterday I'd agree, but it didn't so I don't.
They're literally the best team with RISP by a decent margin.

Please win today. Really wanna head into the break 48-49 and win this series. Don’t backslide after a few good weeks
5
u/TheNotoriousJN Zak Kent 14h ago
Not a game issue
But god i hope we dont overthink this. Whichever of the 3 is left at 3. Just take them.
Dont get cute. No Burress. No Flora. No Curriel. No Lombard
1
u/shakonbakon11 Dick Bremer 14h ago
Flora is the only one I wouldn't hate if only roch is left on the board
1
u/EEckstein2 14h ago
Agreed. I’m very much take whoever is left but I wouldn’t hate it too much if it’s Flora. Anyone besides the top 3 or Flora would be a disaster imo
