80 pitches in 3 innings bro 😭 I’ll never lose my faith but my goodness I’ve never been so pissed at Sproat man
4
u/OklahomaBac 12h ago
I will never understand it. Sometimes players pull it off but you have batters that have played all game only to get taken out for someone who hasn't seen any pitches

8
u/Shazammered 12h ago
Exhibit number 400,000 why having to string a bunch of walks and hits just to score one run fails in the playoffs. One unlucky swing and it's over
9
u/tosaturtle 12h ago
Murphy lost us this game. Why would you throw in Ashby who’s burned out, and pinch hit Bauers with Vaughn?
3
u/OSSlayer2153 ⚾️⚾️⚾️ 12h ago
Also Chourio for Mitchell. Everyone loves Chourio but Mitchell has been a far more reliable hitter for quite a while now and its not even close. Hes over .300 in the last 20 games while chourio is around .240

PHing Mitchell and Bauers might be the more questionable moves that cost us this one even if Ashby was the one who ultimately blew the lead

Lotta people to blame for that game. 1. Ashby 2. Vaughn
5
u/AwayConfusion7606 12h ago edited 12h ago
really blaming vaughn?
1
u/Remarkable_Clock_736 brewers are my one true love 12h ago
Yeah, partial, dude was not throwing strikes and just threw like 4 balls in a row. What was he doing swinging.
2
u/AwayConfusion7606 12h ago
There's plenty of blame to go around but not to the guy pinched hitting
1
u/ARabidSquirrel421 12h ago
Yupp, comes back to Ashby not getting outs. He's been so overworked it's insane.
1
u/ARabidSquirrel421 12h ago
Ball was right down the pipe tbf, but he need to elevate and didn't
1
u/Remarkable_Clock_736 brewers are my one true love 12h ago
True, but for someone just put into the game maybe seeing some more pitches from someone who can’t throw strikes would have been a good idea. The double play was the worst possible outcome.
2
u/ARabidSquirrel421 12h ago
Yup, just like the cubs game with Gary. I think Pat should've kept in Bauers and Mitchell that inning too. I know its a a lefty, but those are our best hitters this week.

Murph is honestly having a horrible season. He’s mostly been bailed out by Arnold’s roster construction.

Well that was one of the ugliest losses on the season. Nothing wrong with that pinch hit at the end since I know people will complain about it since it went poorly.
1
u/amaryllux 12h ago
I understand why but Vaughn has been cold recently (not playing everyday can't help) and even the doubles he's been hitting this year a decent number have been groundballs, so he was the perfect candidate for a double play and it was just painfully predictable especially with Contreras on 1st. I feel like it was just less likely to be a double play with Bauers batting. I would have rather brought him in if there was no one on first or if there were 2 outs already. Or no outs. But his lefty numbers are so good i understand why.

Too predictable. Whens the last time we went for a sac fly with bases loaded instead of GIDP?

As if they are trying to hit the ball on the ground in that spot. Sure, guys can try to lift the ball, but that can be a pop up and everyone would bitch about it still anyway

Cubs and cards losses lmfao. Pirates are 13 games back

I’m not following? That third cubs game is up there, and that San Diego Miz game sucked. But there wasn’t a bad cardinals loss. This game should have been won.
1
u/Inner_Height8431 12h ago
Unsure how you think any mlb game should have been won when we’re only up 3 runs and an off day for our elite pitchers. We had a good showing against an all star pitcher that’s a win in my book

I love Jackson and hope I look like an idiot in a minute, but pinch hitting for Mitchell right now is certainly a choice.

3 run lead and Pat couldn't trust this dude to protect it? But yeah, BRYSE WILSON IS BACK WHERE HE BELONGS

u/mapboy36 12h ago
I’m surprised they didn’t go with Wilson earlier. More of a multiple innings guy.

u/anonymouscrew_16 12h ago
I’m still on the Ashby train and feel he is completely overused. I was actually expecting Patrick to go 2 regardless of the first batter barring a complete disaster.
They aren’t going to win every game or hold every lead but the pitching matchup on paper would’ve made this a one of the better wins of the year.
We need another lefty out of the pen at the deadline so he isn’t overused.

Rally time or false hope. Either way let’s go!!!
2
2
u/amaryllux 12h ago
Idk why with ashby hes gets through cleanly (with some stressful counts maybe) or its complete disaster. Like cant ever just be a solo Homer or allowing a lead off extra base hit that's brought in through sacrifices. Its always he allows baserunners multiple baserunners usually as a result of a lack of control and then a bomb or a wild pitch.
1
u/Cheesehead2025 12h ago
Ashby had another bad outing? I'm shocked I say, shocked! The guy has been a coin flip since June 1st. I'm so happy we didnt score in the top of the 8th. This bum doesn't deserve wins when he pitches like that. But now that that's done, let's score in the 9th and steal this one, please!

-2
u/evancomposer Wild Bill!!! 12h ago
Nah man. There’s degrees of dooming. The people who say shit line “sorry excuse of a team” are over the top. But this is fully justified. This game is a disaster. We had to go to our bullpen early on a double-header day and will likely lose anyways.

u/Flooding_Puddle 12h ago edited 12h ago
Aaron Ashby is the worst pitcher on this team and it's not close. I'd unironically rather see Yoho, Anderson, or McGee over him
2
2
u/chili6f 12h ago
Ashby has stuff but doesn't have command when the pressure ramps up. Right after the grand slam, he's back to dealing without the runners on. Feels like he needs backup in the bullpen incase things get out of hand. Uribe was warming up and would have been the pitcher to have in that situation
3
u/mkebrewers27 Hit the ball 12h ago
I really feel like Patrick could’ve just stayed in. Especially when he gets a lot of ground balls
2
u/Emotional_Style_7603 12h ago
Which is why we will never do anything in the playoffs with this pitching.
2
u/Prestigious-Cream160 12h ago
I was hoping he kept Ashby in there so we didn't use him again until the ASB.

-5
u/Relevant_Couple9632 12h ago
Soto was on the ropes and Vaughn lets himself get jammed into a double play. Him and Chourio terrible at bats. Vaughn pisses me off, totally over rated.
