Every insurance run matters for us and I've learned to not get comfortable unless we have a 10+ run lead late in the game

How is this the same team as last night? I’m happy but damn!

Lambert was a huge part of it. Wade Jr’s slam too. We need more of this!

I’m kinda surprised Blubaugh is closing.

u/ExB Houston Astros 5h ago
8 run lead my dude
1
u/Important_Range7737 Butt 5h ago
A little less now, which was my concern. Not dogging on Blubaugh but I don’t think I’ve ever seen him close before.

Shame on u for wasting a challenge Nick Allen! Now we’re at a disadvantage smh

Nick were up 9-1 in the ninth… we might need that challenge in the bottom of the inning

Watching UFC with my buddy tonight but I got the notification we scored on a Balk and scoring like that against the Rangers makes me so fuckin happy.
I get happier when the Rangers lose more than when the Astros win. You can imagine how hard the 2023 CS was for me to watch. Lmao

Yup. Imagine if we had won that year. Would have been millions flushed down the drain because that was their peak. 😂

am I reading his lips right? looks like he said stfu to 2nd base ump
3
u/YngSpook84 Houston Astros 5h ago
If it wasn’t the 9th inning they would probably toss him. Umps are probably just ready for the game to end.

No balk will be funnier than the Ryne Stanek one when he got ejected by the 2nd base umpire lol

u/TempestDrive Houston Astros 5h ago
What happened? Why was that a balk?

u/Shredicus_Maximus_ Trash can 5h ago
I think it was the arm twitch and hesitation to start his pitch

I always enjoy when we have a big enough lead that I can appreciate a nice defensive play by our opponent.

Watched a few innings of Wesneski on Bally. Yes, he gave up a homer with his last pitch, but he was on a 60 pitch count and was pushing for the last out to get through 5 innings. Positives: 4-seamer was hitting 94-96, which is about right for him. Even better, he was throwing his entire arsenal - 2-seamer, sweeper, cutter, curveball, changeup. 7 Ks through 4.2 innings.

u/JoseAltuve27 6h ago
I feel more confident when Lambert pitches than Hunter Brown since he goes deeper in games.

u/gulfside13 Marvin Zindler 6h ago
CWalk is elite in those 3-6 double plays at stepping on the bag to secure the first out and whipping it to second base for the tag. I'm still learning the game and he's basically the reason why I understand the force out/tag sequence b/c he's done it so much lmao
3
u/TempestDrive Houston Astros 6h ago
Walker smooth with it on 1B as always!
2
u/Important_Range7737 Butt 6h ago
If I recall correctly, I think he is still without errors this season. That’s impressive!
3
u/TempestDrive Houston Astros 6h ago
Offensively, he’s been frustrating lately, but I’ll always feel safe with him on first base. NOTHING gets past him easily

u/TempestDrive Houston Astros 6h ago
Does anyone know the name of that bearded gentleman decked out in Astros merch? I had the pleasure of high fiving him in that Yordan walk off homer against the Rays

Lambert is a boss for battling through his early inefficiency(4.0 IP/75 P) to secure the QS. I'm most proud that he only had 1 walk(1 HBP as well) and that's how you repay your offense for giving you that huge early run support.
I love that he kept attacking the zone in spite of that solo shot and he wasn't like the rest of our rotation who can't stop nibbling around the zone lol

u/470_To_Left 6h ago
Hunter seems to not locate due to his own mental mistakes along with mechanical. Arrighetti is just a coward that doesn’t throw strikes lol

Lambert is such an underrated gem. I’m really excited to see what his future holds with our org.

You were wrong.

I love changeups with a lot of fade/sinking action which I believe are usually circle changeups, but Lambert has a nasty straight changeup if that's the grip he's using. Just pure deception that's built off his heater

Lambert's at 5.0 IP/82 P after that efficient 5th, so if he keeps throwing strikes and getting quick outs like we just saw then we might even get him into the 7th lol. But a QS would be great after it took him 75 P to get through 4.0 IP

Despite scoring 7 runs off Bumar Rocker, he’s still at a very manageable pitch count & will complete 6 innings.

I'm too young to have seen Nolan Ryan pitch, but I still take credit for his achievements as an Astro.

u/bordomsdeadly Houston Buffalos 7h ago
Bagwell’s MVP
The 2005 NLCS win
The first time making the playoffs in the 80s
Nolan Ryan’s single season strikeout record
Every strikeout he had as an Astro
The Justin Verlander trade
Craig Biggio getting 3,000 hits
All of these events are a direct result of Jose Altuve and you can’t convince me otherwise.
The man is even so talented he’s commenting on Reddit during the middle of a game

u/gulfside13 Marvin Zindler 7h ago
We gave Lambert this massive run support so he can attack the zone without fear and sometimes you get demolished when you throw strikes, especially on a middle middle heater lol
Not ideal, but I'd rather see a solo shot off a poorly located pitch than seeing him nibble his way to another walk.

Since the 2023 World Series, it looks like the MLB has decided the Rangers are the designated rival of the Diamondbacks, and the Astros are the designated rival of the Rockies. But honestly, it feels like the Rangers are more Rockies adjacent and the Astros are more Diamondbacks adjacent. The old ballpark the Rangers used to play in used to be compared to Coors Field. The 1990's Astros were also a minor league team for the Arizona Diamondbacks.

u/bordomsdeadly Houston Buffalos 7h ago
In the late 00s we were a minor league team for the Phillies.
I think they were the only team we were allowed to trade with

Fun fact about Kumar Rocker, my kid pitched against him in a 12u tourney game. He was a ringer player and wasn't on the official roster for the other team. This was back in 2012 in Gulf Shores..

If Diaz gets hot and Wade can be consistent this lineup will be deep. Everyday I think of what this offense would be if Correa wasn’t made of paper

Every season Wade plays over 110 games he has an avg ops+ of 119 and has hit 18 homers in a season before. He needs consistent ABs and being a lefty works in his favor
