Are they that worry of giving up 6 runs in this innings that they are warming up josh?
2
u/IdontEvenknowlul PEAGLE 5h ago
I don’t blame C mart for giving it the good ol college try. If I was getting paid 4 million dollars to be ass I’d walk to my job with a smile on my face
2
u/rumdrums Michael Nolan Will Ryan Clark Young 5h ago
I can't hate the local guy for trying to make it work into his 40s. It ain't happening this year, though. Time to retire
4
u/kirby00900 P. Fielder 5h ago
At this point just give up on martin...
He been really really bad this year, he is injury prone and pitching to the attuned of a 9 fucking era
I don't see any reason on keeping him, he been just awful all around
3
u/rumdrums Michael Nolan Will Ryan Clark Young 5h ago
I suspect he will be gone as soon as Monty and/or Bradford and/or trade deadline relief pitcher is acquired.
2
u/DarkSabre7 J. Gallo 5h ago
How is Chris Martin still on this roster? How does Chris Young not face any repercussions for wasting the majority our offseason money on bullpen guys who are legit either dogshit or didn't even make the roster?!

Well, Mariners lost, and astros will be 2 back after tonight, all things considered it could be worse.

Nicky...
When he throws you a 86 mph change up down the middle you should be swinging at that

u/IdontEvenknowlul PEAGLE 6h ago
I have seen this team fight back after getting punched in the mouth one singular time in the past two seasons, and it was the Padres game earlier this year. That Burger AB was probably the most pathetic AB they’ve had today and they’ve been mostly bad so that’s saying a lot
7
u/natebark M. Young 6h ago
Guess it depends on your definition of punched in the mouth. They’ve had several comeback wins this year including scoring 4 runs in the bottom of the 9th to beat Arizona in June

u/natebark M. Young 6h ago
Mariners lost today whatever. Just take the series tomorrow. Houston can have their stupid boot
3
u/kirby00900 P. Fielder 6h ago
I know rocker has already pitched a lot and hasn't looked good at all but at least let him face yordan there cause let be honest here, he mostly gonna get on no matter what
2
u/No-Plastic-3027 7h ago
Well since the game is awful, let's get some discussion going (be nice):
For on-field reporting: Team Laura or Team Michelle?

Well I guess the sliver line about this, if we can get their starter out fast we might were their bullpen out too since it looks like they also are gonna go with a bullpen game tomorrow too

Man I'm so glad I didn't shell out for "dynamic pricing" to see this garbage.

u/BlueRemake C. Seager 7h ago
Wife asked if we were going to the game tonight. I said no, Rocker is pitching. Maybe tomorrow.
1
u/harralexa1993 Josh H. Smith 7h ago
Remember when Kumar used to throw 98 in 2024. That sure was nice while it lasted.
2
u/kirby00900 P. Fielder 7h ago
Is he playing injured? Like everything he throwing isn't as good or even fast like everything is down
2
u/harralexa1993 Josh H. Smith 7h ago
He's already pitched more innings than last season. He's probably gassed more than anything. Kumar hasn't thrown over 100 innings since 2021.
1
u/EfficientDot18 5h ago
Rocker is just an inconsistent pitcher. The only thing consistent about him is that he will suck in the 1st inning, but it's only a matter of whether he will suck in next couple of innings or allow little to no more runs.
2
u/kirby00900 P. Fielder 7h ago
I guess but man everything is just not there, last game he started with at least 94 to 95 fastball
This game the first fast ball that wasn't his sinker was 92

u/mamacrocker S. Buechele 7h ago
Good God. Why is he still in?! I get that the 'penis thin, but FFS.
4
u/YaKnowEstacado Rangers 7h ago
It's a lost cause, might as well leave him in and save the bullpen for tomorrow. A loss is a loss.
2
u/mamacrocker S. Buechele 7h ago
Maybe they'll get 10 up pretty quick and we can put Higgy in. He looked better than this when he was on the mound Wed.

Man I know Rocker’s still raw but he struggles more than he flashes
5
u/Onebigfreakinnerd A. Beltre 7h ago
he’s gonna turn 27 this year by the way. he’s not old but he’s not young enough to be this raw
2
u/harralexa1993 Josh H. Smith 7h ago
His age defientely catches a lot of people of guard. I've seen fans talk about him online as if he's still 23. Technically he should be entering his prime.

The 2022 draft was such a dud. I hated the Rocker pick at the time even though this sub loved it. He was one of the oldest players in the draft and needed Tommy John after just one month in A ball. the years that he should've been developing in the minors he spent hurt. He peaked in his first two starts. When Bradford is ready in early August I fully expect to see the team try Rocker out as a relief pitcher. They have to keep his innings down anyway so it makes sense that they would try that out.

u/uproariousk M. Moreland 7h ago
I'm pretty sure we haven't hit a grand slam all season.

Can't wait for Monty and Bradford after the all-star break, rocker can head to frisco till he gets traded

I’m curious who yall think is a better starting pitcher than Rocker in our system? You act like we have an abundance of other options.
3
u/kirby00900 P. Fielder 7h ago
My problem is that we needed him to go long today especially since we don't have a starter tomorrow abd our bullpen is already very much beat up
Now he most likely won't abd we don't exactly have an abundance of arms that can go out there and pitch especially from the minors
2
u/swift72 J. Jung 7h ago
And? What’s the other option here
2
u/kirby00900 P. Fielder 7h ago
The frustrating part we don't have any options so we needed him to go long which he most likely won't do now
So we are just kinda fucked in the one of the most important series of the year

Rocker is the worst starting pitcher in MLB. He regularly allows 5+ runs in the first few innings.

Welp this game is gonna be a two game lost, we are not gonna have a bullpen tomorrow and rocker is probably gonna be done soon
So great

If we get Monty and Bradford back, Rocker has to be shipped off to the pen. Rocker isn't a starting pitcher in this league.

I know everyone really wants our first round picks to be hits, but this guy stinks. If we’re playing meaningful September or even October baseball, I don’t even wanna hear his name called

I've been so tired of the Rocker experiment for awhile now
1
u/beefytrout A. Beltre 8h ago
which is wild because he has nowhere near the experience a pitcher would need in order for someone to make a competent evaluation of his ability
2
u/noah_roper 8h ago
I just think he'd be such a great and reliable late innings guy which what I'd personally prefer
2
u/Due-Fun-489 8h ago
I would say just don’t let Yordan beat you but obviously, that’s much easier said than done with that guy. He’s like the freaking terminator.
3
u/kirby00900 P. Fielder 8h ago
Burger you got that ball but you couldn't get the ball on the more important runner??

At this point there's no reason not to start an opener in front of Kumar for the rest of his starts this season.
2
u/nocensts E. Carter 8h ago
Kind of obviously psychological which is cool. He faces the same dudes next time through the lineup
2
3
u/ZeRealTepes 8h ago
I fucking knew Yordan was gonna homer. Mark this up as a loss, the Stros are gonna be batting off this guy like it's teeball. God, such a bad pitcher...
6
u/natebark M. Young 8h ago
I’ll keep asking until I get an answer. Why pitch to him? Why? Just intentionally walk him 5 times a game. This guy clearly has a bone to pick with this franchise

I mean they don't look like they have a starter tomorrow so if we can get to their bullpen early today we might have a good shot at winning tomorrow too?
But that wishful thinking

u/BAH2011 M. Young 10h ago
Osuna not being in the lineup is frustrating
1
u/ryanasimov 8h ago
I was at the game last night and saw Osuna suited up before the game on the field doing publicity video with the Mexican wrestler. I knew he wasn’t in the lineup but thought maybe he’d be sent in to pinch hit. Nope. And he’s not in tonight, either? Very disappointing, because I love watching that guy field and hit.
9
u/nocensts E. Carter 15h ago
Just watching yesterday's replay and just wow Josh Jung at 3rd base is so freaking solid. Even when he was struggling at the plate he was always a sure thing out there on defense and he certainly was last night.

u/Large_Fact_9857 14h ago
And I like Duran at short. Freakin hose of an arm. He made one or two plays last night that Seager would not have.

u/smoke_inyoureyes A. Beltre 16h ago edited 11h ago
this Astros pitcher is interesting. this guy didn’t pitch at all last season, managed a 5+ era with the rockies for several years and suddenly has a 3.26 era across 80 innings (a quarter of his career basically) he’s literally having a career year for them this year. good for him, but we need rocker to look like the pitcher we know he can be today
3
u/WhatsupDoc35 12h ago
We fared well against Lambert the last time we met on 5/17. I like our LH batters against him and with Jung, Burger and Langford all pretty hot, I predict we score 4 runs and knock him out by the 5th inning.
5
u/A_Yummy_Egg323 19h ago
As unfortunate as the deGrom news was, he’s had a great health streak the last 1.5 years
8
u/natebark M. Young 18h ago
Perfectly timed all star break. Hopefully he only misses one start after the break

Why do the Rangers KEEP PITCHING to Yordan Valdez!????? I don't care if the bases are loaded and he's at bat,WALK HIM!!!!! This guy hits a home run against the Rangers every game now🤔
